As an ophthalmologist, I apologise to my medical colleagues (especially in Emergency, ICU & public health) for ophthalmologist Dr Andrew Laming's comments on #pilltesting. His remarks need fact-checking from relevant experts. #auspol #nswpol #MedTwitter
"no one dies if they overdose in an intensive care unit"...
Really?
ODs happen <before> people reach ICU's- & patients frequently die in ICU, despite the best care in the world.
#pilltesting PREVENTS overdoses, rather than waiting for them to happen.

Remember how the bogan right used to vilify Julia Gillard for being unmarried and childless, and thus 'unable' to understand family issues?
Notice how Gladys Berejiklian doesn't get the same vitriol?
Funny that.

What is the point of having the Coroner go through the evidence and make recommendations on how to save lives, if the Premier's response is, effectively, "I don't care. I think what I think and that's it."

NSW Premier @GladysB explaining her staunch opposition to #pilltesting. She also says young people can have fun without drugs. @BreakfastNews
Something tells me that the #UnitedNations wouldn't so much as lift a finger if anything happened to #Australia.

We pay to observe global conflict and top up the champagne while our own people starve.

Enough of this...
