This is an anecdote, not evidence. Go ahead, Colin, show us where the curriculum says anything like this. Or give us an example of an actual assignment. Or a corroborating story. Apparently, the UCP won’t be satisfied until our kids swear allegiance to oil and gas. #AbLeg #abed
NDP claim there is no bias in our schools. Alberta parents beg to differ. Just look at this example. An oil & gas working parent came home to his son in tears. His son was taught that anyone who worked in O&G was "raping the land." According to the NDP, this is 100% ok. #abed pic.twitter.com/Bs5KPI3WWo
More slippery language from the UCP. The clear implication is that we have NOT been focusing on literacy and numeracy. That’s complete B.S. Alberta students consistently test among the highest in the world. The REAL UCP agenda is to turn out compliant kids. #ableg #abpoli #abed
We are honouring our commitment to end the focus on so-called “discovery” or “inquiry” learning by repealing the 2013 ministerial order on student learning and replacing it with one that will give students a foundation of literacy and numeracy. #ableg #abed pic.twitter.com/BTfG9W97og
The statements in this exam are being presented as arguments, not facts. The fact that the Minister can’t tell the difference — and that she is clearly opposed to students being exposed to multiple perspectives — is troubling. It reeks of authoritarianism. #ableg #abpoli #abed
It is concerning that anybody would think that these were appropriate questions for a Gr. 10 Social Studies test. Alberta has a great story to tell about our responsible energy sector, and educators should not be attacking it. We'll get politics out of the classroom. #abed #ableg pic.twitter.com/GXFMNBxnXO
Frankly, I’m sick & tired of the UCP line about “keeping politics out of the classroom.” What they really mean is “keep all politics but ours out of the classroom.” It appears they want to turn our schools into UCP brain-washing factories. Imagine, an army of little Jasons.
