I. Love. Jon. Stewart.

I can’t even put into words how much I miss his thoughtfulness, his passion, his humor, and his entire perspective.

Like the great news anchors before him, he brought us a feeling of reassurance knowing that he was there to make sense of it all.
"Your indifference cost these men and women their most valuable commodity: time."

A lot of empty chairs there for people who didn’t get to hear that. I bet they hear it now🙏🏿

I can vividly remember Jon's first show back after 9/11. His support and love for the heroes of that day have not wavered in the slightest. I can only hope that his words will be turned into action by the people who hold the power to make the funding permanent.

I miss him so much. He was such a reassuring voice, and still is, but we don’t hear him enough in these turbulent times. We need him right now, for so many reasons.

His speech was so powerful and well said. I don’t blame him for getting emotional, he only spoke the truth

Hard agree. He deserves every second of his semi-retirement but God, do I miss seeing him regularly.

I know he was "just" a comic political talk show host, but I will forever maintain that our media discourse has become more vulgar and less nuanced since he went off the air.

I love him too. Wow-so eloquent. It’s disgusting that 18 years later this is still not handled. Couldn’t watch this without crying. They didn’t just do their jobs-they went above and beyond.

I. Love. Chris. Evans.

Comedy become news a couple of decades ago. I’ll never forget those moments when it began. Literal #FakeNews was used by one partisan side to condition the public with lies and evaded proper scrutiny under the guise of comedy.

Such low level thinking fails to see own irony.

“Before we carry Jon Stewart around the Intertoobz on our shoulders, we should remind him that ‘Congress’ isn’t holding up the renewal of the 9/11 bill. Republicans are.” twitter.com/charlesppierce…

I just got off the phone with a Lieutenant of the FDNY. He was there yesterday because he was there in that "pile" for months after 9/11. So powerful were #JonStewart's words, that we truly hope they struck a chord with that subcommittee!

In the world full of Donald Trumps , be a Jon Stewart.

Same. I have often reflected that the election may have gone the other way last time if he had still been sitting in the anchor chair...

We need more people willing to make a stand against those in power as they are supposed to serve the people that elected them, the people are not supposed to serve elected officials.

So very true. He broadened your knowledge so you were more informed about the world we live in.

If only he'd used that passion for helping elect the one person who could've averted this nightmare - Hillary - but he said she wasn't genuine. Does anyone think if Hillary was president right now these people wouldn't be prioritized?

Everyone loves jon stewart you're not special

"They responded, in 5 seconds. They did their jobs...18 years later, DO YOURS!"

Fucking powerful words spoken by a just and compassionate man. I would follow you into the trenches Jon Stewart.

Couldn't agree more @ChrisEvans. Jon is not about politics per se, but rather insightful perspectives delivered in a most eloquent and impactful way. The humor in his delivery is so effortless that it doesn't detract from the message but rather enhances it. I miss that guy.

I still think the 2016 election would have been vastly different if he was still doing the Daily Show. Imagine if he called out the media for giving Trump all that coverage in the fall of 2015? He could have shamed them into putting the country above their ratings.

So true. If we could get Jon Stewart to start trolling Trump, Trump would implode in less than a month. He could not handle Stewart's assault on him. There is no way!

What a great guy. What he did was awesome. Shake some more people up Jon!

Its funny Republicans say celebrities should stick to acting, athletes should stick to sports when they're the ones out there fighting for people like this and countless others.

I loved this!!! What he said was so true! I showed my dad that, and I asked him what his thought was! (My dad was in the Navy) he said that, that’s what they were doing to us in the Vietnam, no one would help us or would listen to us, so that message spoke to him!

We need more Jon Stewarts in the world (& @ChrisEvans too). Good people doing good things.

Once again Mr. Evans is completely on point. Oh, Captain, my Captain.

Talk show hosts like Jon Stewart, @jimmykimmel and @StephenCobert ,care more for the people and country than the actual president.
