A light, quick, cheap solution so good, it should be copied the world over:

The fietsvlonder is a “bike platform” that temporarily swaps one car parking space for 10 bicycles. If deemed a success, the curb is permanently adjusted, and the structure is moved to the next location.

We’d like to thank The Hague Deputy Mayor @RvanAsten for taking the time to show off his city’s new Fietsvlonder yesterday. He was also gracious enough to shoot a short video explaining the project, which will be shared on @Cycling_Embassy’s social media channels early next week!
 
Hey @AklTransport, how quickly can you order a bunch of these? Brilliant way to discover demand for bike parking. Plonk this on the street, watch it fill with bikes (10 bikes where one car would sit!), install permanent rack, move temporary one, repeat as needed across the city!

I’ve been talking a lot about these in my meetings in @SheffCityRegion

Removing the space of 1 car can increase footfall not least because the spaces outside many shops are occupied by people working locally, so are rarely available for passing trade.

This is genius! Effective and basic. Hard to argue with such simple social experiments. And also hard to argue with the results, positive or negative. So there's much to gain, and little to lose. Let's do this #Vancouver! #biking

Liverpool City Council has announced a £4m plan to create a "green web" of cycle routes throughout the city. Based on their track record of botched projects, do you trust Labour to invest this money effectively? This is once in a lifetime stuff. Let's make our voices heard.

In Princess May Road in London there are at least two bike lockers each taking up a car parking space. Also there is a parklet, wooden decking and some chairs where anyone can stop and relax. We can and must do this everywhere. #ClimateCrisis #ClimateEmergency #ClimateBreakdown

Cycles and public transport should be way to go in metro cities here too.

Had some of these in @CityofAdelaide . Mostly removed to make more car parking. IIRC no resources to even assess how well used they were. At least I've never seen anyone ticketed for locking to a lamp post...
