She is speaking to me. ❤️

"The next time a woman -- especially a woman of color, because she stands to make 52 cents on the dollar compared to her white male counterpart -- tells you what she needs to do her job, listen to her. Believe her." #Emmys

Remarkable words. Thank you, Michelle Williams. ❤️

And congrats on your #emmy. 👍👏

everyone “in charge” needs to listen to this.

“When you put value into a person, it empowers that person to get in touch with their own inherent value and they then put that value into their work!” 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Beautifully said. An astounding performance and performer.

”...listen to her, believe her, because one day she might stand in front u & say thank u for allowing her to succeed because of her workplace environment, not in spite of it.”

@TIMESUPHC stands with Michelle Williams in the fight for equity across all industries #timesuppayup

"They understood, that when you put value into a person, it empowers that person to get in touch with their own inherent value." ~Michelle Williams WHEW CHILE! I was not EXPECTING to get into my emotions this deep this morning.

'Quando una donna - specie una donna di colore, a parità di mansioni pagata la metà di un uomo bianco - vi dice di cosa ha bisogno per fare bene il suo lavoro, credetele. Magari un giorno sarà come me su questo palco, a dire: grazie'. La bellezza di Michelle Williams agli #Emmys.

My queen👑 a completely deserved honor & beautiful speech. So proud for her❤️❤️❤️

In reply to @THR
“Matilda, this is for you, like everything else” 😭

So this is a great display of what I discuss in my book about white women shifting their allyship into action as a Success Partner. Thank you Michelle Williams. #thememo

I appreciate Michelle Williams pointed out that many women of color succeed in spite of our work place and not because of it. How much more impactful could we be if the salary and resources provided actually matched all that we bring to our respective fields?

You see how she simply gave you the information. She also gave you a solution.

She didn’t go on and on and on and ON about how she’s making a difference for black women and women of color.

She didn’t make it about herself.

Wish some of y’all would learn how to do that.

White women: a lesson in allyship so beautifully done

In reply to @THR
This white girl has a forever pass to the cookout.

If you’ve never seen the series, check it out. ❤️ great performances all around and Michelle Williams performance is fantastic as Gwen Verdon.

In reply to @THR
Yeah! A brilliant performance that brought Verdon so vividly back to life.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Such brilliance. Thank you so much. Inspiring, encouraging and needed. So happy for you - grateful. Thank you also to @Lin_Manuel -- all of this is just genius. Glad to be able to witness it!

In reply to @THR
What a studied, powerful and eloquently delivered acceptance speech. Thankfully and deservedly she won-otherwise we would not have heard this speech, Michelle Williams as Gwen Verdon was stunning-could not stop watching-the chemistry between her and Sam Rockwell was electric.

this speech should honestly win michelle her second emmy

In reply to @THR
Give her another Emmy for that speech!👏🏼

"When a woman, especially a woman of colour...tells you what she needs to do her job, listen to her."

A reminder to ALL employers of what's possible when you support women in your organisation.

We're telling you what we need. You've not been listening.

Managers for any and every job should absorb this speech.

“They understood that when you put value into a person that empowers the person to get in touch with their own inherent value and where do they put that value? They put it into their work”

This but applied to every industry.

“The next time a woman tells you what she needs in order to do her job, listen to her. Believe her. Because one day she may stand in front of you & say ‘thankyou’ for allowing her to do her job *because* of her workplace environment & not in spite of it”

Badassery of epic proportions.

Yaas Michelle Williams👏🏽👏🏻
This brings tears to our eyes as it echoes what #TheFlash's leading lady @candicepatton has said this past years.
Being called a diva by prods for asking for a MUA & hairstylist who know how 2do Black hair & make-up contribute to a hostile workplace

MICHELLEEEEEEEEEE IM SOBBING YOU QUEEN AND CHAMPION OF WOMEN

Just saw her in Manchester by the Sea. So heartbreaking. She's really good and versatile too. Her speech was epic!

Hope @candicepatton's producers & Black actresses' prods were listening!

Call my fave a diva again bc she asks for a MUA & stylist who can do Black hair + makeup and we fighting!

Plus give her all her coins 4 being the leading lady of #TheFlash & the show's best promo + asset

This speech was freaking 🔥 #TIMESUPPAYUP

💫💫 to succeed because of her workplace environment and not in spite of it 💫💫

“Because of her workplace environment, and not in spite of it” just knocked me the hell out.

Create a space where an artist may succeed "because of her workplace environment, and not in spite of it."

I see you, Tommy Kail!

I think I will queue this up whenever I feel less than. Equal pay for all of us.

This is what a real ally and intersectional feminist sounds like ❤️❤️❤️

She's referencing a speech made by Michelle Williams tonight after winning her Emmy! Here it is for context: twitter.com/THR/status/117…

Michelle Williams' words extend to female bosses too. Those who empower the weak because there is nothing scarier than women fighting for elbow room at the table. [Gasp.]

I don’t know how she covered all these important topics in under 90 seconds.

Put value into a person 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.

I did not see Fosse/Verdon so I have no idea whether she deserved the award or not, but I can say unequivocally that this speech deserved to be heard.

This 🙏

Lean in. Listen. Learn. Lead.

“Thank you for allowing her to succeed because of her work environment and not in spite of it.”
