Great thread of reporting @chrisyelland It’s such a travesty that Medupi, our “brand new” (partial) power plant is performing worse than some of the older units. Probably the most expensive and underperforming power plant in the world?

Other staff at Medupi have been dismissed by @Eskom_SA generation head Bheki Nxumalo for negligence in what Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer calls "consequence management" following a number of major problems at Medupi that contributed to the loadshedding last week.

My question is why the design engineers and lead contractors are not paying penalties...?
To understand the extent of the problem at Medupi, read this very accessible thread by the very capable @chrisyelland Medupi is a very poor piece of machinery.

They did him a favor, imagine to run Madupi or any other company when you are smothered with incompetence around u

Like one of my colleagues said five years ago when asked to manage systems integration at Medupi. No thank you, I can’t do it. I can’t try to run a BMW from a Mercedes computer. It can’t be done, or at least, I don’t believe it can be done.

So the Manager is fired, ok. What happens to the people responsible for the mess, not following procedure? I am sure the next manager will faithfully patrol the "long and bigger rubber thing" to ensure all is on track?
The root cause analysis of the loadshedding is baaaaaad. Thread👇🏾

Let’s interview him at the state capture commission and get the truth.
A good thread on the problems at #Eskom's Medupi #coal power plant in #SouthAfrica which led to loadshedding last week
“Clusterfuck” is not too strong a term for the problems at Medupi.

Well done Chris! This appears to be nothing less than complete incompetence at work. That’s what happens when idiots are given a multi billion budget! I hope the back ups at Koeberg are working!

Nothing #anc does as a government matters anymore, to be honest it never really did. #SouthAfrica doesn't get the significance of @USTreasury invoking the #MagnitskyAct. It's the end of #corruption in #SA So, end of #anc #eff #da? #cadres in #SOEs #npa #saps etc. MerryXmas #SA⬇️ pic.twitter.com/uIGhKpqBBj
What a diagrace. But where did this problem originate? Who decided that coal ahould be conveyed over such distances, creating hugei efficiencies?
Very interesting thread.

thnx Chris for a comprehensive analysis and balance summary of the problems at this Medupi P/S
In reply to @chrisyelland
Wow. And we paid billions for all of that. What a fckup by eskom. Useless to the core

"Medupi power station manager Rudi van der Walt has been forced to step down and be replaced immediately" Admit that you lied in this statement. I will attack your every false move and expose your every lie. I am a power generation expert. You claim to be one.
In reply to @chrisyelland
Do you reckon it's the power station manager or the power station?
In reply to @chrisyelland
He resigned long before this. Check your facts before you spew lies.

Sounds like Morons Inc...

Interesting thread Chris, thanks for the heads up..

Surely just a question of time before we see a major incident?

Enlightening thread on #Eskom
In reply to @chrisyelland
Chris based on your thread, which was helpful, it seems we have a few problems; Medupi construction, challenges with systems integration and lastly lack of Monitoring by Management teams. I am of the view that @Eskom_SA should fire more managers at Medupi not just station manager
Follow this Tweet thread, u gotta be kidding me.......
So ESKOM, understandably, fires a few operational managers, consequence management and all that. I take it ESKOM execs won't take bonuses this year?
Read this thread to understand latest problems at Medupi. Maybe The president isn’t against selling these assets he just know they can’t be sold
Thread on what caused the recent #Eskom power issues.
Good to have people in the know like this. Thank you Chris
This just makes you do this 🙊😱🙈
This is a remarkable litany of minor disasters, all in a row. Don’t we have the capacity to run this kind of operation any more?
Oh look, a single, lonely rolling head...
What a mess! Read the whole thread
A reasoned and fact-based thread on what is wrong at Medupi and how these problems have contributed to #Loadshedding.
As an SOE, we need to be asking parliament since the time of ?Mbeki?, why they stood back all these years and watch this sink? Who had ultimate oversight?
Sounds like South Africa's own Chernobyl - except that the fallout is our economy and not nuclear
Buy new vehicle. Drive until broken. “But you needed to service the vehicle every 15000km”. “Huh?”
