I have been considering MPs behaviour over the last few years. Now, I am not one to cast aspersions but would it not be a good idea to do random breathalysing of MPs? Anybody drinking at work would surely be removed? Just a thought…

A pissed up pilot would endanger the lives of hundreds. A pissed up politician can endanger the lives of many more. Yet we accept it.

They still have subsidised bars. They have subsidised bars. Just once more for clarity (because I don't know any other workplace that has them) They have SUBSIDISED BARS.

Absolutely!!! Alcohol and drug testing mandatory for lots of other occupations, why not MPs? Prime example below 😡 twitter.com/poetryrebellio…

Is there any other job where you can just nod off anytime you like and get paid an absolute fortune. Surely they can find simething for him to do...like fix this bloody mess they’re making

Hmm... #DesmondSwayne of #NewForestWest. 1 of 72 Tory MPs who personally derived an income from renting out property and opposed an amendment that would have required private landlords to make their homes "fit for human habitation". #Unfit pic.twitter.com/Qqp9XE6hYW

Are you joking... removed?!! A civil servant would be sacked.

How about random IQ tests?

In reply to @DalbidEU
Just like I want my bus driver to be sober whilst he’s at work , so to do I want my MP to be sober when passing legislation .

In reply to @DalbidEU
I'd go somewhat further than that and require MPs to undergo drug tests before being admitted to the chamber or any meeting room. Furthermore, if Volvo can demand you pass an alcohol test before you can start one of their cars, MPs should suffer the same.

and drug testing, that might be interesting

Not to mention wobbling Gove falling off the arm of the Speaker’s chair. Wonder where that vid went........?

In reply to @DalbidEU
He’d be given the sack if he weren’t in such a privileged place, trouble is that lot don’t think they’ve got a job, they think of it as their birthright

In reply to @DalbidEU
I've thought this for a long time now. If you can't drink and drive you certainly can't drink and run the country. Random drug and alcohol testing for MPs should be the norm.

In reply to @DalbidEU
Why are they allowed to drink alcohol at work? Most people would be sacked for that.

Example here of people literally voting for a donkey with a blue rosette

I couldn’t agree more ... it would remove quite a few problem people - like - Gove 🥰

He puts more effort into choosing his head gear & has interesting line in hats. Vanity with not a bit of self awareness. This is what he is sporting on Newsnight this evening to moan that the judiciary should not be allowed to hold the government accountable if they break the law pic.twitter.com/GW7k3mONUS

No other branch of the public services would tolerate this.

What a great idea..a d same if they haven't paid there Bill.

Some1 looking very tired and emotional after a visit to the members bar. 😂😂😂

Every now and then Sir Desmond is triggered and wakes up and spouts total bollocks and then falls asleep again.

In reply to @DalbidEU
Bloody good idea! But, also take away their subsidised drink and food! They can buy water and call into Greggs like the rest of the country!

In reply to @DalbidEU
Just because he is asleep doesn't automatically mean he has been drinking.

In reply to @DalbidEU
Anyone else found sleeping at work would be fired. Yet he mouths off about Food banks and welfare parasites. He is one.

In reply to @DalbidEU
At least they could pay full price for their grog

# THATS GOOD POINT! ANY OTHER JOB THERE ARE RANDOM BREATH TESTS,SO WHY NOT PARLIAMENT,CARRYING INSTANT DISMISSAL,FOR POSSIBLE ENDANGERMENT OF COUNTRY!?

He was probably standing in (sorry lying in) for Mr Mogg who may not have been available that day!

In reply to @DalbidEU

And drug tests, the toilets of the HoC got swan tested and all covered in coke, Michael Gove had been busy!

In reply to @DalbidEU
I've had the same thought ... Also, why should they be paid to get wasted and have a snooze at work if I can't?

In reply to @DalbidEU
Or instead of using tax payers money subsidising MPs food and drink. Open a food bank outside Westminster, let the general public donate, if they wish!!! I suspect some MPs may go hungry!! Welcome to poverty UK!! @Conservatives @UKLabour @povertyuk

In reply to @DalbidEU
Isn't it time to give MPs employment terms and conditions such as the rest of us have to accept with a by-election called for gross misconduct?

That guy seems stark raving mad when he’s awake.

Do you not remember the great Alan Clark ? - drinking for England.

In reply to @DalbidEU
For a lot of them ,coke is the thing. Others ,can manage with the subsidised bar.

Dock a day's pay say I...

He’s rather classy. Thankfully he’s not my MP. She is most definitely an upgrade on that.

If you are not fit to drive you are not fit to run the country

And random drug tests

I agree but why should the work place sell heavily subsidised alcohol in the first place? They are not a pub or hotel so not needed. More of a doss house sometimes by the looks of it.

It's #DesmondSwayne of #NewForestWest. 1 of 72 Tory MPs who personally derived an income from renting out property and opposed an amendment that would have required private landlords to make their homes "fit for human habitation". #Unfit
