Employed as a court painter by Louis XVI, when the revolution got rough he made Louis鈥 final pre-guillotine portrait and scrammed to London. Two of his daughters became painters as well.

This guy was arguably the coolest guy of the 1700鈥檚, and he鈥檇 probably be tickled to know his pictures are a part of internet culture. Joseph should be considered the first image meme artist.
