Richard Dawkins was born and raised on a white owned farm in colonial Africa and this detail is often forgotten when people try to understand why he is the way he is.

This was a time when Richard's father was part of the British Colonial Service in Africa. First as civil, then as officer in Kings African Rifles. They were infamous for their widespread use of torture and killing of civilians during the Mau Mau Uprising.

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.

Translation: we tried guilt-by-word association, which didn't seem to work, so let's try guilt-by-historical association

This is pretty damned irrational. I was born and raised in racist, Roman Catholic northern Indiana (baptized at birth in fact), and this detail is often forgotten when people try to understand why I'm a left-wing gay atheist.

he explicitly narrates his first interaction with islam was his memory of their muslim house servant in british kenya

You know how I always harp on the way your formative years affect your specific style of racism yeah this is that

In reply to @antifatwa
Literally all he said was that it would be possible & genetically beneficial... which is an utter statement of fact. He also noted that to try to do it is morally abhorrent. He also didn't mention race at all, which has no play in non-ideologically driven eugenics. Try harder.

In reply to @antifatwa
"Eugenics is morally bad but it would totally work" is exactly how you get people who don't give a shit about morals, and who have forgotten that eugenics doesn't work, to start doing eugenics.

In reply to @antifatwa
So we have moved on from misrepresenting his position to attacking the guys childhood...well done

In reply to @antifatwa
I know Richard Dawkins personally. He is singleminded in the pursuit of truth as determined by logic and science. He is also kind and generous in person. There are so many selfish, racist, evil people with lots of power we should be focusing our attention on. Not him.

In reply to @antifatwa
Of course he said nothing that makes him racist. But sure, make a point for fun.

This is a pretty crappy criticism I think. You can't blame people for the facts of their birth, over which they had no control.

Also, I read his autobiography, and he speaks warmly of Africa.

I thought he was dead. Seriously.

In reply to @antifatwa
i mean, dude was born in Rhodesia. that alone has the potential to go wrong real quick.

In reply to @antifatwa
This seems like an excellent time to note that Richard Dawkins was adamantly against Brexit and for staying in the EU.

Huh...yet he came to the conclusion that eugenics is bad. Kinda undercuts whatever idiotic point you are trying to make

I didn鈥檛 know this. Explains some things

In reply to @antifatwa
Ah, the 鈥渟ins of the father鈥 and the "spent formative childhood years in..." things. Extra persuasive. I had forgotten these things. Thank you for helping me change my opinion to match your correct opinion.

In reply to @antifatwa
Oh snap, I didn鈥檛 actually know this but it explains SO MUCH.

In reply to @antifatwa
What details about 鈥榯he way he is鈥 are understandable in the light of this info?

In reply to @antifatwa
he also flew around on epstein's jet-plane pic.twitter.com/7CR0AugaLC

In reply to @antifatwa
Spike Milligan, Cliff Richard and Felicity Kendall were all born in India. It shows in everything they said and did.

In reply to @antifatwa
I read what he wrote. He said eugenics would work but it鈥檚 a very bad idea. Have I missed something?

He was born in (wait for it) Kenya and lived in Malawi
Why do so many of these racist weirdos have links to colonial east Africa?

In reply to @antifatwa
Because where someone is born defines their unchanging personality for life :/

In reply to @antifatwa
So not going to defend Dawkins, he's an odious slime-ball who is intellectually dishonest/immature, but this here is a bad argument that relies on the genetic fallacy,

In reply to @antifatwa
Where Dawkins - or anybody else - was born sometimes has a big effect, and sometimes very little, on their beliefs. For Dawkins, his deep understanding of genetics and the fact that 芦race禄 is an unscientific falsehood makes the idea he is racist an absurd and rather stupid idea.

Also, he was sexually abused by priests as a child and clearly has not dealt with it and uses his own denied trauma to put down others who are trying to deal with theirs.

In reply to @antifatwa
That pretty much sums up.

In reply to @antifatwa
More evidence the intersectional left has completely lost its f*cking mind

Oh. Just like Elon Musk then?

In reply to @antifatwa
He and his family were served by nearly literal slaves, and he thought they were happy and really loved him of their own free will.

I was raised in a White-owned house鉂旾magine that. 馃

In reply to @antifatwa
Oh did he hurt your Muslim feeling with science. Criticizing Islam is not racism. Bad ideas need to be criticized. He could have been raised with Nazis still doesn't invalidate his criticism. It's called objectivity maybe try a little but of course the Jew hand thing. Right 馃槄.

In reply to @antifatwa
Where were you born so we can assign bullshit to your thoughts?

In reply to @antifatwa
He is simply following Darwinism to its logical conclusion.

In reply to @antifatwa
You mean that鈥檚 what turned him into a vegetarian atheist? What am I missing here?

Okay, but plenty of white people do not have this type of upbringing and are still racist af

I do not care why he is like this he needs to "get woke" as they say. Then if he was with Epstein he needs to wake up in prison.

In reply to @antifatwa
Whether eugenics works and whether is eugenics moral are two different questions. Eugenics *does work* and when done on humans is an evil. If you are going to argue eugenics is evil because it doesn't work you're playing a dangerous game.

In reply to @antifatwa
Oh Christ, I didn't know that and suddenly the clouds part & understanding shines through.

hmm seems a bit racist, insinuating that direct contact with africans made richard dawkins regard them as genetically inferior ?

In reply to @antifatwa
What a disgusting smear. Dawkins had no control over where he happened to be born and raised. I guess in your ideal world, we dismiss people on the basis of where they were born and who their parents were. Sounds suspiciously like the kind of thing you claim to oppose.

In reply to @antifatwa
He doesn't approve of eugenics. Try again

Thank you for sharing, this explains so much!

In reply to @antifatwa
Oh I see! His dad was farming white people in the same way some would cows, sheep, pigs, etc. THAT'S why he's saying these things. Like the psychologist (Skinner) who invented the "skinner box" & raised his daughter in one. (Maybe someone should dig up Richard Dawkins' garden!)

In reply to @antifatwa
Absolute low tier white supremacists coming in here with half baked counter arguments like rich white families in Africa isn't a very specific conditions and environment that actively commit to training their kids to be as white supremacist and genocidal as possible

Richard Dawkins should be hanged for who his parents were.

Always hated Dorkins, the dried-up joyless old fuck. 馃し鈥嶁檪锔

I feel like this explains a few things

Didn鈥檛 he wear a T-shirt that said 鈥渨e are all Africans鈥 LMAO

In reply to @antifatwa
What utter nonsense. It makes no difference at all

In reply to @antifatwa
This is not an idiotic take at all.

In reply to @antifatwa
In what dysgenic non-white dystopia where you born and raised? That would be very illuminating, it would, for instance, provide context as to why you're so eaten inside by brown envy.

In reply to @antifatwa
I didn't even know that but yes Yes that explains EVERYTHING

In reply to @antifatwa
Are you kidding? He was doing a thought experiment, not a real thing. You haven't read many science papers I presume, for your tender person would be horribly insulted. Stay ignorant then.

In reply to @antifatwa
I'm just hear to laugh at all the douchebags who are defending their racist god king.

In reply to @antifatwa
It really isn't about his upbringing. It was a scientific point - selective breeding works in animals, including human beings. He was not suggesting we practice it. The idea that Richard Dawkins suddenly exposed himself as a white supremacist eugenicist in a tweet is absurd.

In reply to @antifatwa
I love it when ppl who have backgrounds equally if not more racist attitudes towards black African ppl are outraged at whites doing the same thing. As if they don鈥檛 regulate their societies the same way

In reply to @antifatwa
Honestly, I can't stand Dawkins, but your tweet is a fine example of the genetic fallacy.

In reply to @antifatwa
That puts his infamous 鈥淲e Are All Africans鈥 t-shirt in a whole new light

In reply to @antifatwa
His comments may seem alarming but scientists must think the unthinkable. Sorry. How do we escape illnesses unless we 'Play God', as some would say? He knows like anyone else that mental qualities -cleverness or morality- can't be enhanced easily. Also, on the 'plane pic'...

In reply to @antifatwa
Every country has practiced colonialism at one point in history of the country. Can you mention a single country that has not practice colonialism?

Did. Not. Know.

White male entitlement

I detest these people. So much.

This would be an important detail. I am not sure why I never knew this.

In reply to @antifatwa
Didn't know that... Does explain a lot.

In reply to @antifatwa
What Is being white got to do with It?

In reply to @antifatwa
You do realize he did not support eugenics. He merely states that biologically it would work the same as it has done fr other animals. He specifically stated the practice itself would be deplorable. Not supporting him, but you are taking this out of context.

In reply to @antifatwa
I keep forgetting that Dawkins is African, not English.

In reply to @antifatwa
He's a jerk. I am not interested in the reasons thereof.

In reply to @antifatwa
And you think maybe in his 80years of life this man has not changed? Or was never the way you assumed?

In reply to @antifatwa
way to add race to everything

In reply to @antifatwa
He didn鈥檛 condone eugenics in that thread...

In reply to @antifatwa
He simply stated out scientifc facts. It鈥檚 such a shame to derail his argument based on false racist accusations.

I do think atheism can be a factor for people like Dawkins but there鈥檚 always a material basis that is relevant, if not the most relevant thing to influence their views

Read Wenchus Blowbug鈥檚 鈥淗ow Dawkins Got Pozzed鈥

I did not know this.....
And yes.....makes sense now

Here is that missing piece of the puzzle.

Apparently Dawkins is spouting some eugenic crap but as I was saying the other day, bad thinkers like him aren't good thinkers who mysteriously morph into bad thinkers. They were always bad thinkers, likely too privileged to ever be really challenged. The proof are always there.
