Yes! Why is this so hard to understand!?! She actually believes in her ideological project.

This happened a lot during the early debates on M4A when she kept saying "I'm with Bernie on this" and people kept saying "Why? Why is she doing this?" and the answer was....because she believes in it!

In reply to @chrislhayes
Warren is not going to let Bloomberg hijack the Democratic Party like the Republicans let Trump hijack theirs.

In reply to @chrislhayes
My impression is that Warren is running for president in order to get things done that she has been fighting for for decades. Winning this race at all costs is not her only goal - and I find that admirable.

In reply to @chrislhayes
I think the reason centrist pundits are upset that Warren isn’t attacking Bernie is because she’s so good at attacking Bloomberg. But they don’t understand is Warren is fine with any other nominee winning except for Bloomberg. She’s been clear about this for weeks.

In reply to @chrislhayes
A lot of people in this line of work get a big rush out of witnessing will to power, and think politics is only about that.

In reply to @chrislhayes
She is also smarter than the average voter, and she knows the kind of money Bloomberg is pouring into Super Tuesday states is going to give him a huge advantage. She's single-handedly knocking him down, and people are criticizing her for not focusing on Sanders. Unreal.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Imagine losing because you are actually serious about doing the job and not just getting it.

In reply to @chrislhayes
She’s a person of great integrity, and we should only be so lucky to have her as the President.

In reply to @chrislhayes
She's an American hero. Doing a service to the country protecting against a severe threat to democracy. Someone needs to get him off the stage for good.

In reply to @chrislhayes
How dare she attack the creepshow billionaire who represents everything she's been fighting against for decades!?

In reply to @chrislhayes
Because are so understandably used to cynical, disingenuous politicians. Her sincerity and decency are two of the many reasons I will vote for her.

In reply to @chrislhayes
(countdown to your mentions filling up with "tHeN WhY DoEsN'T ShE dROP OuT aND enDoRSe BeRnIe??")

In reply to @chrislhayes
I trust her the most out of everyone running.

In reply to @chrislhayes
You mean she doesn't view it as a cutthroat game of destroying your rivals in whatever way possible however intellectually dishonest you have to be to do so? It's almost like... she's a human being! That's why I support her, but I,like her, will also support Sanders.

In reply to @chrislhayes
And it might actually make sense to let others attack Sanders. Where is his soft support going to go? To the other progressive who doesn’t have the socialist label.

In reply to @chrislhayes
It would be insincere for her to exaggerate small differences with Sanders, but OTOH she does need to persuade people why she ought to be the nominee and not him.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Warren is taking down Bloomberg because it has to be done. She always has her eyes on the real prize. Even though she’s not getting a break. She is fighting for what she knows is right. And I thank her.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Meanwhile, he sics legions of bullies on her & stabs her in the back, leaving one to wonder if she's just not as smart as she thinks, or utterly deluded.

Because she’s ruthless against Bloomberg personally. It’s not that she wants a clean argument about ideas. She’s not against personal attacks. She just won’t attack her main competition on anything! This is silly.

In reply to @chrislhayes
I've been screaming that at the TV throughout the post debate coverage. I dont understand why they can't seem to comprehend this simple fact.

In reply to @chrislhayes
It’s as if everyone has resigned themselves to the Trump message that everything and everyone is corrupt. This is one of the central values of her message: she really means it. She’s not selling you anything. She is genuinely principled.

In reply to @chrislhayes
She differs from Bernie critically just not on outcomes of fairness & healthcare, education ...her implementation differs Her competency as an effective leader & well regulated capitalism differ

In reply to @chrislhayes
And that’s why she is the best candidate. Everyone else is doing everything they can to win the race. Warren is doing everything she can to make real change.

In reply to @chrislhayes
If she is fine letting Bernie win the nom and he picks her as VP, she is doing a good job as she handles Bernie with kid gloves. If Warren wants to get the actual nom, she is failing.

In reply to @chrislhayes
I’m pretty sure Warren was pissed off at the way Bloomberg tried to brush all of these allegations aside as if they don’t matter at all. Maybe that would’ve worked in pre-Me Too but not today.

In reply to @chrislhayes
I think it was also to knock out Bloomberg who doesn’t align with her or Bernie.

In reply to @chrislhayes
They agreed on Wall St reform too. But Warren actually did something about it while Bernie just talked about it.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Unfortunately she was completely focused on Michael Bloomberg for the first hour. Then she finally gave it a rest and got back to ideas. If you didn't notice it, you weren't watching very closely. She's obsessed with Mike. Strange.

Chris Hayes is LITERALLY THE ONLY media person who understands this simple goddamn concept

In reply to @chrislhayes
Those devising the questions should be politically informed. Questions of soda proportions over the enormous deficit and corona virus...... Trump’s policies ate devasting....and they try to create a Jerry Springer Show.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Senator Warren has no problem tearing apart real billionaires and fake billionaires. She has effectively exposed Bloomberg as a Republican who cannot be trusted.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Then what does she want, a participation medal?

In reply to @chrislhayes
1. She agrees in many ways on policy with Bernie 2. She wants to get some of his voters to convert to her. How do you do that? By mainly attacking Bernie, alienating his voters? Or by mostly attacking a billionaire, emphasizing your opposition to billionaires?

A rare thread when you go:
“Hmm, some actual thoughtful and well reasoned points being made by the comments here”

In reply to @chrislhayes
“Ideological project” is a weird way to put it. Maybe “good governance”? “Community oriented policy”?

In reply to @chrislhayes
it makes her look bad and weak. This isn't a friendship contest, it's a battle for the nomination. He's the frontrunner.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Just want to thank you for being the only news outlet to have taken a moment to report the Delhi disaster Here is a link m.facebook.com/10147840125130…

The idea that @ewarren might mean what she says continues to flabbergast the punditry.

In reply to @chrislhayes
And even better...... ACTUALLY HAS ONE!!!

In reply to @chrislhayes
Why don't you tell your compatriots at @MSNBC like Brian Williams and @HardballChris this?

In reply to @chrislhayes
She may believe in her project but was way less than presidential tonight

In reply to @chrislhayes
Well, I love her. But if she doesn't take down Bernie, she has no where to go. As the end of primary season approaches it will be her and the Bern and a moderate.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Joe Biden will beat trump. Elizabeth Warren is a great senator and should continue her excellent work there, where she is definitely needed. Joe Biden will beat trump.

In reply to @chrislhayes
It's almost as if... she is more concerned about a billionaire buying the nomination than herself losing it. So weird.

The unicorn in the race and no one knows how to deal.

Just f*cking vote for her, that’s how.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Unfortunately, that's not how the world works as of this moment. You fight the battle in front of you, not the battle you wish you could fight.....

In reply to @chrislhayes
And to be fair, the last debate led to the best fundraising of her campaign! Bloomberg is a useful foil for her.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Just not enough to actually try and win the nomination herself. She’s all in for Bernie.

In reply to @chrislhayes
She doesn’t appear to have a path towards a nomination, but if she’s personally responsible for derailing a Bloomberg candidacy then her run was worth it. I know that’s cold comfort for her supporters, but that alone would be doing a great service for this country.

In reply to @chrislhayes
I have friends who are all in for Bloomberg, surprisingly so. She’s onto something.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Belief? Shouldn't she be trying to BEAT him instead?

In reply to @chrislhayes
Come on. Everyone knows if she goes after Bernie all his followers will attack her mercilessly. Snake emojis anyone?

In reply to @chrislhayes
Oh please. It's one excuse after another. If she thinks Sanders is aligned with her, why is she running at all?

In reply to @chrislhayes
Or maybe she just wants to be VP.

ALL OF THIS AND—she can leave it to The Moderates (tm) to attack Bernie. It makes no strategic sense for her to go after Sanders.

Why is it so hard to understand that Warren is aiming to be Bernie’s VP if she can’t be the
nominee 🤷🏼‍♀️❓

In reply to @chrislhayes

In reply to @chrislhayes
Correct. Theft is fine as long as there are rules. Welfare programs are good as long as they are means tested. A brokered convention is fine if I am the nominee

In reply to @chrislhayes
Still don’t understand why she’s not winning

In reply to @chrislhayes
She spent half the debate bringing up a story from thirty years ago about Bloomberg saying something to a pregnant lady. You people kill me 😂

In reply to @chrislhayes
if that was true she would drop out and endorse sanders

In reply to @chrislhayes
They're looking for Warren to do what they're candidate can't ...truth be told.. Let them Do their own Dirty Work and show you they fight Trump

In reply to @chrislhayes
Then why run for President? Why not just get out and endorse Bernie?

In reply to @chrislhayes
I think she also wouldn’t mind getting selected to run as Bernie’s VP

In reply to @chrislhayes
She's also gunning for the VP slot.

In reply to @chrislhayes
I’m a GAvoter #ImWithJoe... @JulianCastro or @staceyabrams as running mate. Cabinet position for Buttigieg. Need Warren & Klobuchar to keep working in senate. #RIPGOP

In reply to @chrislhayes
She literally doesn't though! She has been extremely inconsistent, and this primary has raised more questions about her than it has answered by a long shot. If anything, she has been exposed for not believing in what she purports to be her ideological project.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Can you have a chat with some of your MSNBC colleagues and explain this to them?

In reply to @chrislhayes
If Warren would rather be right than president, maybe she should tell the poor schlubs donating to her campaign.

In reply to @chrislhayes
she believes in anything she thinks will get her nominated

In reply to @chrislhayes
So should she drop out and support sanders?

In reply to @chrislhayes
If so, she should drop out and endorse the candidate with the clearest path to secure the threshold. Does she believe she could edge it out? She’s third to fifth in the polls. 😤

In reply to @chrislhayes
Ideological project? What is that exactly?

In reply to @chrislhayes
counterpoint: she’s full of shit

In reply to @chrislhayes
She doesn’t align with Sanders on most ideas. She thinks the banks need adult supervision, but she thinks that supervisor can be a banker. She’s a war hawk and votes with Trump on obscene military spending. She started using his language when it became popular, then backpeddled. pic.twitter.com/UJA4YeiHqH

In reply to @chrislhayes
Idk bout that one chief

In reply to @chrislhayes
What ideology is it that attacks a man on hearsay from 20 years ago when it’s not her fight? She looks small when she attacks him because he’s rich. So what! Did he steal or cheat to get his money like Trump? Attack Trump not Dems

In reply to @chrislhayes
Then she is a very bad politician. Her job right now is to win and Bernie is the one blocking her. she is letting her personal feelings cloud her judgment and that's not what you want in a President.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Why is she running is she doesn't think she's a more effective change agent than bernie? She must believe she's more skilled at transforming ideals into policy and more capable of beating trump to even be in a position to influence anything. She has to show these contrasts to win

In reply to @chrislhayes
... she's the one trying to get sIcK BuRnS on Bloomberg or whatever...

In reply to @chrislhayes
Less bias more fact finding Chris

In reply to @chrislhayes

In reply to @chrislhayes
No one is questioning that. What we're questioning is why she's going to allow a guy who will never get those policies passed take the lead.

In reply to @chrislhayes
Honestly I think she plans to bow out after South Carolina and endorse Sanders. She certainly isn’t running as one who needs to beat Sanders to win

In reply to @chrislhayes
Why is it so hard to understand that Warren is aiming to be Bernie’s VP if she can’t be the nominee 🤷🏼‍♀️❓

In reply to @chrislhayes
Oh brother. Fine. Have fun with 4 more years of Trump, or at best 4 shitty years of Bernie and a decade or two in the wilderness while America recoils from liberalism. I’ll try moving in the meantime, I guess. You all deserve each other. I guess I thought EW was smarter.

In reply to @chrislhayes
They’re running against each other. How is it confusing that they aren’t allies in this context. It just shows what awful political instincts Warren has. She gets played over and over again.

In reply to @chrislhayes
That's fine but if true she should drop out.

In reply to @chrislhayes
She doesn't want to alienate the Sanders supporters, and she's expecting someone else to take Bernie down.

In reply to @chrislhayes
So she doesn’t want to win? Is that what you’re saying?

In reply to @chrislhayes
Voters are pretty tired of her cancel culture crap. We care about the environment and effective leadership and gun control. She’s going nowhere

In reply to @chrislhayes
Then why is she running for president rather than supporting Bernie? The point of running is to - checks notes - win.
