Say what you want about nature docs, but the fig wasp footage from #PerfectPlanet is phenomenal.
✨On continue la journée avec une autre naissance assez incroyable
Perfect Planet is excellent, even down to the fig wasps that hatch, grow huge telescopic penises, and use them to wrong their unborn sisters. Apparently some vegans won't eat figs because they might have wasps in? Even though the fig tree relies on this to pollinate? 🧐

I’m not sure if I found this scene disturbing or amazing! 🙈

I wrote a bit more about this incredible relationship following my input to the series. open.edu/openlearn/natu…

Must get my brother to watch this one
Wtf? Brothers that fertilise their unborn sisters? With a penus twice their body length? pic.twitter.com/ew82aNUnaz
The male impregnates it’s unhatched sister with its telescopic penis. Into a fig. I knew there was a reason I don’t like figs.... 🤮
I'd heard about fig wasps, but had never seen all the ins and outs that go on in the heart of the fruit.... 😮 May not be quite ready to add figs to my shopping basket for a while! #PerfectPlanet
