Boris Johnson voted against ID cards 12 times, but wants to restrict voting to people with Photo ID .

THAT'S how you know his Voter ID policy is just about voter suppression against already marginalised groups.

Those were New Labour ID cards. These will be Tory ID cards.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
If you can't see the difference between general I.D. cards and proving that you're eligible to vote then there is no hope for you

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Surely you鈥檙e all for protection against voter fraud??!

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Voter ID and ID cards are very different as well you know. The first is needed because there is too much Labour Party voting fraud and the second is what they do in most EU countries so we don't want that.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Don't be daft how do these marginalised groups open bank accounts, collect parcels etc.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Deluded....again. British public want id like every country has and you've nothing to fear if you are honest, but then you are not are you.

Never heard Femi argue that the UK's driving license system, cinemas, bank accounts, and boarding planes are all racist...

Interesting

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Times have changed. British people respected the vote and democracy, but with fraud so prevent in certain areas, voter ID is now a necessity. People calling for reruns of referendums have highlighted their disdain of democracy.

Personally I am fine with ID cards (most EU countries have them - maybe all?) BUT this is absolutely about silencing the disadvantaged who are less likely to vote Tory. Trump and Republican shenanigans come to mind.

I love this Grifter meltdown.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
It was the costs during financial crisis...now ID easier and cheaper.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
How is it voter suppression when the cards are free, and most EU nations operate photo ID to vote? Are they suppressing marginalised groups?

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
ID cards, didn't the stazi introduce those in Germany too.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
I know it鈥檚 about voter suppression because I鈥檓 american and have worked as an elections clerk in Texas. Its all about targeting poor people without ever saying they are targeting poor people.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Why don't they just say that only Tory members can vote in elections. It would be a much more honest form of voter suppression.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Labour have been caught rigging elections...its their fault 馃檪

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Can someone please explain to me how being required to prove your identity is voter suppression.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Hearing why people voted conservative makes me think we need IQ tests

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Everyone鈥檚 got photo ID, if you don鈥檛 have it, you鈥檙e dodgy as hell and shouldn鈥檛 have the right to vote.

If you can't afford 拢70 for an ID but can afford 拢70 for a *monthly* phone contract, or 拢150 for a car a lease, maybe look at your priorities if voting is something you really want to do 馃憤馃徔

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Genuine question- How does ID cards restrict voters? And how does someone not have ID in this day and age? Almost 40m people in UK already have a driver's license....

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
The people want it..that's what matters馃憤 why would Femi be against Voter ID馃

In reply to @Femi_Sorry

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Just as telling are the absences. 12 times. Johnson doesn鈥檛 care about democracy. #Apathy

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Maybe if voter fraud wasnt so rife among certain sectors then we wouldnt need ID. Fact is it is rife.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
I'm a bit confused though because poorer voters in Hartlepool will vote Tory again so whose votes are they trying to supress... Genuine question.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
So no one from a marginalised group rents/owns a house, has ever applied for benefits or when young, tried to bottle of booze. You need photo ID for all of these. Also local councils can provide for free.

But but but Labour conference..ID required you fkin idiot

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Britain Trump following Trump playbook 鈥 am shocked

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Or its to reduce voter fraud, something very popular with Labour.

Those who don鈥檛 have Photo ID will be given one, quit racebaiting

Standard ID cards are a whole different story

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
What is wrong with proving you're eligible to vote.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
What are the odds of someone who doesn't have ID actually being someone who goes out to vote ffs

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
But it鈥檚 not actually a problem here - it seems driven by electoral advantage for the Tories.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Trump and Boris the pair from hell...same methods.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Sadly, we Usonians already know quite well that the #GOP's #VoterID policy is just about #VoterSuppression suppression against already marginalized groups. From the @ACLU: aclu.org/other/oppose-v鈥

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Got nothing to do with voter suppression. If you have ID (driving licence, passport) you can still vote. Nothing will stop people voting if they really want to.

Carry a photo on Bus Pass,Driving Licence,Passport,if you work in many places the pass you string round your neck ! But not voting ! Why would that be I wonder ? You support fiddling eh Femi your a 馃ぁ

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Not it doesn鈥檛. Times change and now we need photo ID to protect the integrity of our elections. Or would you prefer them to be able to be undermined so you get the answer you want? 馃

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Free ID cards are going to suppress voters? I really don鈥檛 get it!

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Id for voting isn鈥檛 a bad thing all you currently need is to know the address and name and off you go

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Excellent idea 馃憤馃徎 well done Boris. What鈥檚 your problem with it Femi?

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
With so many people who live in Labour areas being prosecuted for voter fraud, anyone would change their mind about something like this. Our fundamental right of a fair election is being stolen by lying, cheating activists.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
So do you think having ID to prove you can drive is racist or driver suppression against already marginalised groups

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Dry your eyes @Femi_Sorry - voter ID been in Northern Ireland for years with no issues.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Utter race baiting crap. So minorities don鈥檛 understand, are intelligent enough to get one, can鈥檛 fill in forms or use the internet? You need id to get a phone, a bank account, to collect parcels, to get booze (if you鈥檙e lucky enough to look young) so photo id to vote....YES!

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Wow I woke up in America this morning.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
How about this then Femi for probably the first time ever some will be able to vote for who they choose and not the preferences of their husband.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
I don't think they plan to even introduce this is. It's just another dead cat.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Register for postal votes online It took a few minutes, confirmation came through in 2 days. The next election (was the Police one) our postal vote cards arrive. We're automatically registered for postal voting for ALL elections until we say otherwise. registertovote.service.gov.uk/register-to-vo鈥

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
I reckon there鈥檚 a Venn diagram with a large overlap of people who want vaccine passports, but opposed to voter ID, and vice versa

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
I would rather not have voter ID but voter fraud has been perpetrated mainly by people on the left of politics. It's left wing fraudulent voting tactics that has created the need for these checks. You reap what you sow.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
If the photo id is given out free if required (you don鈥檛 have one already) then I can鈥檛 see an issue personally voter id is already a thing in lots of countries.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Pure Trumpism. In countries thst have avoided issuing mandatory ID cards it is understandable. In countries in which requiring such cards has been seen as an assault on civil liberties, it is simy voter suppression.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Don't be a prat Semi..... Just get an ID!

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ馃ぃ 15 years ago! And remember Femi and his dopey Remoaner mates all ran a campaign based on.....wait for it.......people changing their minds! Crack on Boris, annoying the right people again.

#ToryCorruption improves dramatically under this deviant!

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
If we need ID cards we'd better get them to those who want to turf this criminal cabal out, rather than complaining about it

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
If they're free how will it suppress voters please?

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Fair enough, then they should also mandate voting.

For a party that doesnt like red tape it appears @Conservatives is saying its only certain red tape they dont like.

It be interesting to see how those freedom loving anti lock down Tory MPs vote .......

He's panicking now after recent election

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Ironic website for someone like him.

If you are an adult that functions within society, then you will have a photo ID. You need an ID to get a job, claim benefits, buy alcohol, drive, ect. How is voter ID voter suppression?

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Closer & closer to US Republican Party (aka Trump Party). Truly awful.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Is your point that Boris is ensuring that marginalised groups have fewer locations at which they can get an ID?

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Hilarious when the far left come out as pro insecure elections and adopt US terminology. "Black people don't drive!" How many victim points are you claiming Femi?

In reply to @ScotTories
@ScotTories @RuthDavidsonPC @Douglas4Moray anything to manipulate democracy - NEVER trust a tory scumbag or an habitual LIAR of a PM

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
NO,its because of this Tariq Mahmood is a Labour Party member & convicted vote-rigger is out again on the campaign trail. In 2008 he received a 15-month sentence for his part in a 鈥渟ystematic campaign of electoral fraud.鈥 @Jay_Beecher vote-watch.com/2021/04/26/lab鈥

Once again: Conservatives are all about the 'Con' and not so much about 'serving' us.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
If it cuts down on voter fraud surely this is a positive thing esp if the ID鈥檚 are free! Surely this strengthens democracy not weakening it馃憤馃憤

This can only be for voter suppression. This is also of concern as I can see no elections happening at all. Could that happen? pic.twitter.com/fTO708I2RV

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Straight out the republican play book

Everything he does is in the interests of Boris Johnson. 鈥淔uck The Country鈥 should be his permanent 3 word slogan.

It costs 拢25 for a Citizencard + Birth Certificate... You talk out your arse. citizencard.com/apply-for-a-uk鈥

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Yawn. 1 in 3 people already fail to vote yet you've never really shown an inclination to resolve that issue. If the ID card is free, there isn't really any senisble counter argument against them. You'll just waffle on for a bit though with your mock outrage.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
The idea that ID is beyond the grasp of poor or Black people is disgustingly patronising and racist. What, are minorities too thick to get ID??? I entered society after 32yrs in jail with 46 quid and no ID. I managed to get some. Its easy.

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Don't be a liar like @Femi_Sorry fake information from a fake, flakey individual!!!!!

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Who actually doesn鈥檛 have an ID?

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Sorry i dont understand why is this suppressing marginalised groups

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
Massive huge difference between confirming who you are when placing your vote....and an actual national ID card. I bet you show some ID when you collect a parcel at the post office??

thoroughly evil & knows he cant win on a level playing filed

In reply to @Femi_Sorry
You must be hiding something,or claiming something you shouldn't have, living somewhere you not registered at?We need id for a few things ,so why the big fuss, fck up with your PC bullshit,if it helps stop just 1 fraudulent vote then great, oh my rights ,my freedom, oh fckin behave
