Manufacturing is booming under the Morrison Govt, with the Portland aluminium smelter expanding production lines. In March, together with PM @ScottMorrisonMP & @DanTehanWannon, we announced Govt action to secure the smelter's role in the electricity market & 500 local jobs.

Production lines increased because the price of Aluminium is at 10-year highs,it has absolutely nothing to do with the Morrison government.

I thought an aluminium smelter's sole role in the electricity market was simply to consume vast amounts of it. #auspol

$160mil for +80 jobs? O....kay. Relevant - is Alcoa still fighting the ATO over that $921mil the ATO says they owe? Do we just add that on to the cost of those jobs or..?

Are you in China? Manufacturing has collapsed under the #LNP! No Australian made cars, few if any white goods - what planet are you living on?

Angus you're the Minister for Emissions Reduction. Your party doesnt care about manufacturing unless your pockets are being lined.

If all that money creates 500 jobs. Then it is time to see how a vertically integrated vehicle manufacturer could produce 500,000 jobs. All you have to do is research the Tesla model and then accept that Australia has all of the mineral requirements and Super to make it happen

Firstly Angus, aluminium is not manufacturing. It is industrial production. While investments and inventories are up, profits, production and manufacturing are all down from last year. Corporate profits are down too. Are you worried? (Source: tradingeconomics.com/australia/manu鈥) pic.twitter.com/viPr0Y06tf

Angus....where are Portland getting their power..?? And how..??

In reply to @AngusTaylorMP
This is raw materials production, not manufacturing. Manufacturing adds value to the aluminium by converting it into a finished or intermediate product. Aluminium smelting is not manufacturing.

We're still waiting for you to manufacture $80,000,000 of water that Barnaby joyce gifted you. Produce it or give the money back you fvcking thief

In reply to @AngusTaylorMP
And recycling an already made aluminium can uses 95% less energy than making a new one. Did you know that?
