Cassini's images showed the storm changing color over time. In 2013, the hexagon was a beautiful blue, but by 2017, as Saturn was on the cusp of summer in the northern hemisphere, the storm turned a smoggy yellow. (📹: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Space Science Institute/Hampton University)

But why is the storm hexagon-shaped? Everyone loves a good space mystery! More study is needed, but our current understanding is that the storm is shaped by Saturn's jet streams and interactions with the smaller storms surrounding the planet's north pole.
