Yesterday, we manoeuvred our Cryosat🛰️to avoid a potential collision with #spacedebris. Rocket bodies are some of the largest items launched to space and in this case, a defunct Pegasus-2 upper stage was going to get pretty close to our ice mission🧊
Collision avoided! 💥 @esaoperations confirm that a collision avoidance manoeuvre executed at 16.44 yesterday afternoon was successful. #CryoSat moved to avoid space debris, a 2m chunk of a rocket 🚀 weighing 202kg. We're back on track with instruments working as normal. pic.twitter.com/LDN8AIco3Z
