A collision with this 200 kg rocket, travelling at 7,500 metres per second, would be catastrophic. It would also create an enormous cloud of fast-moving #spacedebris in one of the most important and busy space highways. pic.twitter.com/P5RoiT64eK
While a miss distance of 63 metres might sound like a lot, remember our spacecraft is flying at an altitude of 708 km, and is itself travelling at 7,500 metres per second. At these speeds, we leave nothing to chance.
