Gary please don’t encourage this reckless behaviour. They’d have been sliced into 100 pieces and fans, marshals and drivers were wholly at risk of injury and death. We already had one lucky escape. I totally 100% support freedom of speech and opinion, but do it responsibly
If it’s not already too late, history will look back very favourably on these people.

Also - if they had actually done any research, they would realise that F1 engines are the greenest on the planet and are setting the standard for the road car industry.

Plus, with the research funding for fossil free fuels, we’re actually leading the solution, not the problem!

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Way more risk of death with climate change to everyone than there is attempting to delay a motor race.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
How’s Gary getting to Qatar ? Just an honest question

In reply to @MBrundleF1
I trust Gary was all for the environment when he smoking around in his C63s? pic.twitter.com/ewezsIOWZ6

In reply to @MBrundleF1
The cause is understandable, the actions were 100% not. Let's not forget the tragic Tom Pryce incident.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
I completely agree with the reason for their protest, but 100% against the method, it's far too dangerous and reckless

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Take it @GaryLineker won't be flying to Qatar in November then?

Martin absolutely correct to challenge Gary Lineker over his view that the on track protest was justified yesterday. Perhaps Gary would like to have a chat with Carlos, Max & Lewis and also acquaint himself with F1’s net carbon zero strategy including abandonment of fossil fuels

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Baffling take by Gary here, Martin. As you say, fight your corner and fight for what you believe in, but do it safely and in the right way.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Well said Martin. Lineker needs to give his head a wobble

I agree with @MBrundleF1 here, there are better ways to send important messages.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
I think people are totally missing the point. get your message out, freedom of speech is good. But doing in a way that would have killed people isn't the way to do it

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Gary's tone would change if they had stormed a football pitch...

Absolutely spot on from Martin Brundle - as usual Gary Lineker is in the wrong lane

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Well said Martin. Gary’s original comments and those following your tweet shows he too has a reckless regard to human life. But sad too to see @GMB giving this type of protest air time today. @F1 is doing an incredible amount sensibly about sustainability. And will achieve more.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
In hindsight we’re lucky the race was red flagged from the beginning. I doubt many of them had heard or know about Tom Pyrce. While I understand the cause, wanting a voice and platform you don’t sit in the way of a 190mph bullet coming at you.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
The UN has said we are currently heading for "total societal collapse" due to climate change. I deeply encourage you to pay attention to the science. We cannot survive without a livable climate and fossil fuels are killing us. History favours the brave. We must #JustStopOil

What this tells me is that the media - including myself - is doing a piss poor job of explaining how racing is pushing the sustainability of transportation and the automobile. Technology needs to be tested at the limit, racing does that. Some #INDYCAR examples below: (1/6)

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Gary hasn’t really been on the ball with his views this last few weeks. Think we all know about the most infamous incident of an F1 car hitting a marshal ☹️☹️

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Tom Pryce. Fredrick Jansen van Vuuren. Anyone who thinks what people did yesterday has any justification is beyond me. All that needs to be said.😔

In reply to @MBrundleF1
No words for the sublime bandwagoning here. As others have said, how is he getting to Qatar?

In reply to @MBrundleF1
@MBrundleF1 being the hero and voice of common sense britain loves and needs.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Would you say the same if this was about Greenpeace fighting of the Japanse whaling fleet is small boats? I get what you mean. But sometimes the risk is part of the message.

Martin Brundle politely exposing Gary jumping on the bandwagon👍 There is a time and place to protest of course but a racing circuit is not one of them 🤔

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Beautiful response to a stupid and irresponsible comment

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Martin, you’re far too nice. Gary should be ashamed & quite frankly is a hypocrite. He’ll be flying out to Qatar I’m sure to sit in stadiums built by exploited labour which cost many lives. He is a fully paid up member of the do as I say not as I do brigade.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Gary is right, you are wrong

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Even more bizzare that they did it on a day when Seb drove a ‘92 Williams that’s run on carbon neutral fuels 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s really took focus off of progress pic.twitter.com/FBhvQIm4fs

Pointless trying to reason with Gary. He rarely misses a chance to jump on a bandwagon,no matter how illegal the action is. Obviously Russia got a pass -because it was only Crimea. Here he is hosting the Russian World Cup draw. No problem here of course. pic.twitter.com/QNTk9ymkvd

In reply to @MBrundleF1
The fact that football fans travelling to matches, in a queue waiting to park throw out more CO2 then an entire race weekend. Plus isn't F1 using biofuels now like WEC is?? How did the protesters get there? Car? Coach? Bet it wasn't electric... how do they get lithium out?

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Gary Lineker at it again! His hypocrisy is breathtaking.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Not just delaying the race though - walking in a live track with 200mph metal darts. It’s just wreckless encouraging this behaviour.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Well said Martin. Reckless behaviour. The planet needs looking after but not this way. Gary, I respect you and your stance but F1 is doing so much to reduce its carbon foot print and bt bet zero by 2030.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
They could have put banners up behind you pundits so they get airtime, or something else off track. But sitting on a live track is absolutely ridiculous, if they sat near the Zhou crash the marshals would have to choose which incident to respond to. They need locking up.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
but at the same time F1 has already committed to stop using fossil fuels

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Max would have run them off the track, like he does everyone.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Well said Martin. Shocking that @GaryLineker is using his platform to encourage this.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
How did they get in as I couldn’t get tickets as it sold out last year!!

In reply to @MBrundleF1
His response says it all. Doubt he’d risk sitting on the tarmac with the Red Bulls and Ferrari’s bearing down on him at 200mph.

I agree wholeheartedly with Martin. While the JSO protestors are pushing the right agenda, the place to do it is not on an active race track where any incident would almost certainly be fatal, for a protestor, driver or Marshall.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
I’m sure @GaryLineker will be flying to Qatar to watch football, where many people have lost their lives building these stadiums along with their poor human rights records….. All funded by money from oil… The bloke is a tool

I second that Martin, if we had been at normal racing speed, we would have had multiple fatalities. By all means, protest, but do it on the doorstep of the people who are doing nothing at trying to protect the environment. #BritishGP

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Completely agree with you @MBrundleF1 👍

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Don’t bother Martin. Gary is beyond help at this point. Completely hysterical to the point where it’s hard to work out if it’s some sort of clever parody.

Gary Linekar needs do us all a favour. Pack up and go live with his weirdo brother in Ibiza and never return!

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Totally agree Martin. Gary Lineker thinks he speaks on behalf of everyone but he’s a total clown

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Save your breath Martin, the man’s a fool.

Brundle has the correct take here. Protest by all means but do it safely, not by jumping on to a circuit where cars travel at speeds reaching 200mph.

Had the race not been red flagged for Zhou, I dread to think what could have happened here

In reply to @MBrundleF1
But Gary is woke and hypercritical and was apparently racially abused he thinks because he used a sunbed in the 80s 😂 what he fails to recognise is it was his ears we were chanting about

In reply to @MBrundleF1
100% agree martin. Nothing wrong with protesting but this was a terrible way to do it and only brings negative press to the cause imo

In reply to @MBrundleF1
It's such a shame that people who claim to support a cause such as this can engage in reckless behaviour to go about it. Not only did try to they put peoples lives at risk but they destroyed the credibility of their message.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
The same @GaryLineker that used to drive around London in his V8 cars? 🤔 Now claims he only owns an electric car. As if everyone else could afford to just switch cars to a new electric one like that - and during a cost of living crisis!! Lineker talks some right 💩💩

Why is Gary linekar becoming more and more unlikeable everyday? What and idiotic thing to say..

Well said @MBrundleF1 unfortunately I don’t think @GaryLineker understands motorsports and the risk these people have put the drivers and marshals under. Well done to the marshal’s for acting so fast and going above their role yesterday. 👏 #BritishGP @BARC_Marshal #SilverstoneGP

Martin is right that a person being hit by an F1 car at full speed is not a pretty sight. Would we be having the same debate if a driver and protestor had been killed yesterday due to this protest?

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Great to be able to put your point across, but to endanger lives of yourself and others is stupid at best. Are you really going to support this lunacy Gary?

In reply to @MBrundleF1
F1 is the epitome of recklessness and excess. It is a story of pushing boundaries to gain a competitive advantage that delivers rewards. I struggle to see how anyone fused with the spirit of F1 can deny it to those who see species survival as more pertinent than motor velocity.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
There are a few ways I would like to reply to Gary, but you put it better Martin. These idiots could have ruined an excellent days entertainment for millions of people through out the world. Bet he'd think differently if a pitch invasion happened at the FA cup final.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Don't waste your breath Martin. Lineker has become a complete virtue signalling nonce.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Couldn't agree more Martin, I'm just glad they didn't get onto the track when the race was going on. 🙏😊

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Couldn’t agree more Martin 👍

In reply to @MBrundleF1
From an ex - experienced driver .. a very sensible reply .. to a most ridiculous tweet from Lineker .. totally brainless 🙄

In reply to @MBrundleF1
There’s ways and means of protest and this isn’t one of them. The R&D of F1 benefits the advancement of electric cars and fuel efficiency immensely. They were idiotic yesterday.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
I agree. Climate protests are important - we're creating a mess and we're not being responsible about it. We've got to grow up. But risking your life and other people's is plain stupid and doesn't help anybody.

This shouldn't need saying but it's irresponsible, & incredibly dangerous to enter a live Formula One track
Cars do 330 km/h & are designed to puncture the air
If these individuals had been hit they'd have died instantly & caused potential death to drivers, marshals & spectators

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Well said. Why is he talking about a sport he knows nothing about? He's jumping on this stupid climate bandwagon. He can encourage those morons to tie themselves to goalposts.🙄

In reply to @MBrundleF1
It isnt ignorance its the illusion of knowledge I am sick to my back teeth with woke green posturing privileged sports people who because they can drive a car or kick a football think they understand the most complex topic climate which is not in crisis because of Co2 at 0.04% pic.twitter.com/aMFGwcm0SG

Team Brundle on this.
@GaryLineker way way off the mark on this.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
couldn't agree more Martin, @GaryLineker is just fishing here as usual. Absolute stupidity to set foot on an active track. More responsible and effective protest methods available

In reply to @MBrundleF1
Well said @MBrundleF1 If the T1 crash hadn’t happened there would have been a horrific accident down the wellington.

In reply to @MBrundleF1
100% agree there is a time and place!! Not on a F1 track! Who’s responsible if someone dies? If Gary feels so passionate about I wonder if he would sit on an f1 track while a car is doing 200mph!

In reply to @MBrundleF1

In reply to @MBrundleF1
well said. Oh & what a fantastic race yesterday…🏁🏎

Well said Martin, protest by all means but don't endanger lives in the process.
The mental impact it would of had to everyone at the at the track if someone has been killed would of been horrific.

In reply to @MBrundleF1

👏👏👏 Well Said 👏👏👏

Siempre certero Brundle.
