馃洅Should we scrap self service tills?

Pat McCarthy is a trustee of Disability Network Hounslow.

She's calling on Tesco to halt the roll-out of even more SSCOTs (self-service card-only tills) at her local branch.

I wouldn鈥檛 scrap them all, some elderly customers like to talk to someone in their lonely day, even if it鈥檚 a cashier for just a minute or two. Ever noticed a tv screen with your face on it at a self service till? That鈥檚 shops grooming us for facial recognition payment.馃檨

I find Self Service tills extremely difficult to use in my wheelchair because of space. You want me to load and pack my bags with a clip on trolley at the front with a meter of space. It's not accessible.

Why card only? Some of us still use cash and some of us always use a till with a human being. Keep cash going, waiters and waitresses can have a tip, so can bar staff etc.

I absolutely hate self service tills and refuse to use them. it's doing a human out of a job. Why should we serve ourselves. Its the shops job. I was in asda yesterday and the sstills were massive and crowded. There was one normal till open with a huge queue.

No, I don't think we should scrap SST's, maybe there could be a way to adapt the SST's to make them easier to use for people with Disabilities, I for one prefer SST's then queuing up, so quick so easy no long Queue

Let @tesco waste thousands of money on self serving tills. There will be less ppl will be going there. They will soon realise they will lose money and lose there customers.
