Is it fair that new tax cuts will benefit the rich?

No.10 is set to unveil tax cuts this week, as Liz Truss says it's fair that the rich will save the most.

The PM claims her plan will grow the economy but others - including Joe Biden - disagree.

What do you think?

We've tried trickle down economics before, it doesn't work, the money can't trickle down if it's stashed in a bank account in an offshore tax haven.

Carol Malone is such a contradiction we can afford to give the rich tax breaks but can't afford higher wages. Why doesnt Vine every pull her up on this?

The more you earn, the more tax you pay. Tax cuts benefit everyone. This means more money to be spent in the shops, great for the economy.

She has a short term plan of abandoning all controls and regulations to benefit the rich, simply because she doesn't expect to win the next GE. The country will become even more worse off with no significant international trade deals.

It doesn’t benefit anyone but the rich Jo Biden is right. Trickle down economics works with middle class but not those with more than they need (some of whom keep it in offshore accounts) because they don’t spend it. Money simply collates and doesn’t move around the economy.

Anyone paying tax will be benefit

The Tories never target the poor with help without making their friends richer in the process!

Carol not wealthy? We saw her kitchen during covid, its bigger than some people's houses. So her house must be worth 1 or 2 million. And apparently she doesn't have a fraction of £6 million. Her stance on this subject is shocking.

How the frig is it fair the rich keep more of there money?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
We need to see that it is the multi billion £ corps that benefit the most from this. Those who are well off probably can cope OK through the winter, but they're not the ones getting away with massive untaxed profits and sneaky little deals

Truss looking after the rich ,like every tory government before, carole malone will never see this as is such a massive tory supporter

Were all feeling the pain. The difference the rich will not starve or freeze this winter.... What happens when she's proved wrong? Dead pensioners!

Is there such thing as a trickle up economy? Where the poorer people have more money to spend making the rich richer.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yeah sure because giving the richest more money to stick another wing on their mansion will definitely find its way back into the economy to drive growth. Idiocy.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Trickle down economics obviously doesn't work. The gap between the rich and poor just gets wider and wider.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
And she's just lifted the cap on bankers bonuses. Only the rich will benefit

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Rich role save /hide their money, poor people actually have many great reasons to go out and spend money, it isn’t the rich who can growth the economy

"We're building an economy from the bottom up and middle out". That was what Biden tweeted. It doesn't mention the UK; he's talking about the US economy.

She is one ugly mutha. Inside and out. Get rid

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Course it’s unfair but let’s face it that’s what the tories do look after the rich because that’s who pays em

Phantom economics

Why does @thecarolemalone have to shout and scream so? Switched to Ms Hartley-Brewer.

Typical Tory. Let’s bring our more policies to make the Rich richer (who tend to vote Tory) and sod everyone else

Somebody's looking after their donors and future consultancy. The rich get in richer and the poor getting conned again, again and again. Measure how many people will be coming off the poverty line & measured the increase in crime for people trying to survive her policies.

Hasn't worked for the last 40-odd years. Wealthy people hoard wealth. Poor people spend it and get the economy moving.

The same people saying we can't pay worker's a decent wage are trying to tell you letting the rich get paid more is a good thing. 👌 neoliberalism doesn't work #GeneralElectionNow

I think the new PM has reinforced the age old belief that Conservatives represent the better off and Labour represent the working class! Whereas, I believe that all politicians just represent themselves!

Tax cuts for ALL, the more you earn the more you save So those that work or generate more money make more money seems fare, you don't have to be rich or poor to earn money that you should be allowed to keep. Now reducing obscene wages & bonuses to acceptable levels is different

Im getting sick of the US sticking their nose in to our affairs. If its not that hideous witch Pelosi its Biden. The US has massive issues, they should sort them before lecturing to us all.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Tori are only interested in lining their own pockets

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Will Truss start wearing real fur and eating force feed ducks?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Just another obscene idea from an obscene government.

Her economic policy is essentially trickledown. Osborne’s was austerity Both have been comprehensively discredited by expert economists. It is almost like they are only governing for the top 1%.
