I have spoken to tens of thousands of anti-Putin protesters in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It was not enough. A decade later, hundreds of thousands would be needed. The Kremlin believes few Russians will risk their safety & freedom over Ukraine.

So even this "partial mobilization" escalation rhetoric threatens to unbalance the apathetic majority in Russia. Enough to go into the streets instead of to the airport or border? I don't know, but neither does Putin!

The equation has changed. People feared for their lives, livelihoods and freedoms if they stood up. But now, if they DON鈥橳 stand up, they will be forced to kill or die for nothing.
