Is the government’s tax cuts for top earners 'immoral'?

That's what former footballer Gary Neville claims. He thinks rich people like him don't need help.

Someone on £150,000 or more will now pay the same rate of tax as someone on £50,000.

What do you think?

Mike. Argh! Stating that road sweepers choose that profession is typical of the wealthy & the privileged. Their upbringing, education and circumstance dictates. Look at the MPs, most CEOs, international cricketers for example, come from privileged backgrounds and private schools

Gary Neville is right. If I hear one more person try to defend by saying “ They work hard and create jobs” Lots of people work hard, they are providing the labour to make their wealth What will happen if they all decide to withdraw their labour? Wealthiest would be stuffed

The person earning 150k or more will still pay a lot more tax than the the person paying 50k. I don't see a problem with the reduction in the top rate of tax

'Politics of Envy' translate as 'Politics of Justice'. If we are one nation, we have to take care of everyone. But then it's a long time since a Tory government even pretended to represent everyone in this country.

It's bang out of order, the tory party only ever think of the rich. The lower earners and people on benefits get left and thats how it seems to be whenever this party are in power! We need major change and complete overhaul in politics but it will never happen! #JeremyVine

Well done to Gary Neville speaking out on the tax cuts for the rich. It’s appalling, typical Tory govt look after the rich. A big clap also to Femi great debate on the prog. Mike is on another planet as usual.

Mike Parry, at the last budget you defended the reason the tories put up tax now you say it’s absolutely right they cut it. Ask yourself who you defend and why. You are better than them and they wouldn’t protect you!

Will someone more clever Frank me sort Mike Parry out, he says a street sweeper chooses to be a street sweeper therefore implying working class should be happy with their lot. Does he not have the word privilege in his vocabulary, those born into it are the only ones with choice

Be interested to hear your thoughts on how scottish taxpayers are getting royally ripped off at 21% and 41% with higher rate kicking in at a lower level also

As bad an MP as Boris was and although not entirely successful his 'Levelling Up' policy was a hood one in theory. This Tax decision is indeed immoral and as usual for the Tory Party will benefit only the most wealthy and is a slap in the face for those struggling the most.

Tax cuts promote growth? Until Thatcher the highest rate of income tax was above 80% (that's the 50s to the 80s - 3 decades) & let's see how growth was permanently low until then..... (psst, it wasn't) pic.twitter.com/hgfZeXWomG

Looks like a lot of money has been made on the collapsing UK Pound by the same people who made money out of Brexit and who funded the election campaign of Lizz Truss. Probably just a coincidence.

Someone on £150000 will pay £40000 more in tax than someone on £50k is that fair ?
