Is there a reason Optus isn't covering this cost? Just a bit confused why tax payer is footing the bill. Is there something I've missed?

You really are a sham show pony, exceptional. Stupid & shameful, making mileage from others anxiety over having their identities stolen. Optus should & no doubt WILL pay. They don't get to tell the government. Might not be all they have to pay either. twitter.com/SharnelleVella…

So do we still assume if Optus haven’t contacted us, we’re ok? Bit weird that they haven’t had any comms about the people who haven’t received an email

I’m a previous customer, no longer have an account, email or landline with Optus. Therefore can’t use the App to message Optus. I still may have had my data hacked & they may have tried emailing the old address. Seems my only option is to call - imagining horrendous wait times.

Yup, so we will need to call vicroad for this to happen. Wondering if I will need a whole day off from work to either just wait on the phone or wait at the vicroad customer service centre. And will Optus pay me for the time I spend to get this sorted?

Is it though? The question should not be “What does ‘proactively flagging’ my licence do?” Rather, it should be “How do I do this?” Can’t see it anywhere @VicRoads

Sorry, but the link does not show you get a free new licence. Far from it. Vicroads has a way to go here.

Can you imagine the stress for people worried they will be a " who are you " ... Major corporations need to be tight .. not to have a person say sorry all while wrecking people lives 😪
 
 
The charge back to Optus bit had me laughing.
 
Optus should NEVER have demanded drivers licences and passports for their database. They should NEVER have stored that information. This violation was inevitably going to be hacked.
Sucked in Optus.

Maybe similar to Victoria - the state will pay and charge the cost back to Optus.

I heard today it could cost $29 but Optus will figure out payment. They really aren't going to make us pay THEN credit our account by $29 are they? Oh best they not.

About time - hopefully a more proactive approach to this moving forward will be changed in the Vicroads policies
