Just got to Fort Myers/Cape Coral area. Seeing very little in terms of boarded up businesses compared to when I was in Tampa. #HurricaneIan

Because they kept predicting Tampa….. we only boarded today, and I’m a nervous wreck! 😩

Storm surge predictions in that area are devastating. Be safe. pic.twitter.com/RSTE6H45rf

Weird how we can hit an asteroid 7 millions miles away with pin point accuracy but can’t predict a hurricane’s exact direction with any certainty. Stay safe!

Please stay safe. You’d think after the damage Charlie caused you’d see more boarded up. Hoping people on Sanibel left the Island. Praying/hoping for a miracle that people remain safe & it somehow isn’t as bad as it looks. 🤞🙏🙏

Same here in Naples, we didn’t do much other than pull in furniture and check generators.

I live in Cape Coral.. they weren’t taking it serious here.

Stopping by the Dirty Laundrie's? Hehehe,,,😁Waves to you as you drive by North Port 👋😉 Be safe out there, the roads are flooded already.

well the reassuring news is that the "city" of Cape Coral is constructed acutely aware of its environment and is not tracts of distance-marketed lot sales that were never intended to be built on with canals in the style of venice

Lee County Emergency Management was only “partially activated” through yesterday. Sounds about where our county is at, as far as warning and preparedness. To an extent, understandable due to the NHC cone and info & high degree of uncertainty with this storm.

Focus was on Tampa, and nobody paid attention to an inevitable slight shift. Boom. #Ian

The "storm of the century" / "surge never seen before" for Tampa. Then it came south, and more south.. basically ran out of time.

I cannot begin to explain how ignorant SW Fla is. Little story:
In 2004, on Aug 12, I signed closing docs on a condo in Fort Myers. Hurricane Charley was out there. I didn't live there but had been thru several hurricanes/evacs in the state.
NOBODY took it seriously. 1/

Yeah— well, We were promised it was hitting Tampa! —Charlotte county here. This is the second time they prepared the wealthy city of Tampa and cared less about the poor folks down here!

Those people thought it was going to go North of them. I don’t think they have anything to worry about. Maybe some roof damage, power outages and trees down. If you are in the path of the storm, please don’t sleep or sit where a tree could fall through your house.

In reply to @BrianEntin
I don't think they had as much time, unfortunately.

Guess they weren't expecting as much there! Get some rest and stay safe! 💙

Yeah I didn’t even put my shutters up. Daddy needs a new roof!

I wonder why that is. Isn't Fort Myer's in the path?

They kept telling us is was a very small chance of a direct hit. That small chance happened. My family is completely boarded in my house and will only be able to see what’s going on outside online. So please keep me updated 💕
