It’s an important point that Truss & Kwarteng have no mandate from the British people for the hugely destructive actions they are taking.

It’s worth registering this through the current surging petition—> petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6197…

I signed, only to receive an email from the Cabinet Office telling me we are in a Parliamentary democracy not a presidential one. If that’s the case, truss should abide by manifesto promises and Parliament should hold her to them
Have we all signed this? Shared it? Retweeted it?
They need to know they have no mandate for the destruction they are wreaking

My letter to my Tory MP calling on him to enable a General Election in a #NoConfidence vote or resign and fight a by-election on Liz Truss’s “new approach”. Plan B: Citizens’ Recall Petition - hit the same 10% target as under Parliament’s recall petition rules. #recallthetories pic.twitter.com/sW8fiorP9f
Not a big fan of petitions, but this one may be worth sigining
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
They’ve already responded 😞 Everybody should still sign it, though. pic.twitter.com/G7eBDIPe0B
More people have signed this than voted for Liz Truss.

I've just signed this petition. Please would all my followers sign and retweet.

Just looking at the map of where people have signed from and it seems Conservative seats are some of the keenest for an election.
sussexbylines.co.uk supports the call for a general election. If Truss and Kwarteng [and the Tufton Street 'think tanks'] are so convinced of the rightness of their case, then put it to the vote. They currently have no mandate for the havoc they are wreaking on the country.
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
Maybe suggesting MPs crossing the floor may be more effective- that way they will feel safer voting no confidence in the government. - petitions can’t make an election happen

Imagine if Charles stepped in. Dissolves parliament, reverses the decisions made last week then hands power back via a new general election. That would also make it 3 for 3 in the King Charles dissolves parliament trend.

Sterling has gained more than 7% from its all-time low of $1.0350 set early Monday, climbing to as high as to $1.12 in early Asian trade, about where it was before the Chancellor of the Exchequer began speaking in parliament about the mini-budget almost a week ago.
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
Was over 150k when I signed. Arguably it might be one easy thing all us folk could do - in huge numbers, to seize attention.
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
Over 200k now, an extra 10k since I signed it 20 minutes ago pic.twitter.com/EEHJ7eM5qy
Less than a minute to sign this petition asking for a general election.
Don't forget to confirm in your emails.

While nothing can come of this because, you know, massive Tory majority, it's no bad idea to have our fury registered somewhere. When does the UN step in?
85,871 people have signed this petition in the last 11 hours. Including me.
In reply to @ricardowebb93
No - let’s get this to a million by Sunday (Tory party conference)
Please, everyone who can, sign this petition. I know government just ignores most of them, but it's still important and wont cost anything.
Now nearing 300,000 - I know that the Cons won’t do it but it could gain media coverage to aggravate the destructors:
#followbackfriday #FPBE it's no silver bullet to slay this vampiric Tory ideology, but signing is a good thing to do today. I dared to hope #JohnsonOut was enough. It wasn't. We need to #GTTO #GeneralElectionNow, just to keep roofs over our heads, let alone progress our society.
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
I signed this at 30k. Then got the 'response from the govt at 100k'. Typical, 'Umm, no' reply. We have to get this to the debate stage. pic.twitter.com/WtNoQlgRhg
Don't usually share petitions but this one is special . Let's see how quickly we can make it grow @xr_rebelradio @EmmaKennedy @Tim_Burgess @colingreenwood
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
I would sign but it will make No Difference…sadly I’ve signed countless to no avail whatsoever
Got to he worth a try 👇
Needs must people, needs most definitely must #GeneralElectionNow #GetTheToriesOut
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
Very pleased to have signed. If you haven't, please do so! #GeneralElectionNow
I can practically smell the government taking this down but might be worth signing and sharing anyway
If you want to #GTTO as #ConservativeParty is now upholding a unelected #ERG #Libertarian government who will support wealthy individuals/corporations before people/public services then let’s take action as #FollowBackFriday as #ToriesDestroyingOurCountry

Already signed for all the good it will do. These incompetents really do have to go. 😡😡
Now this petition has more than double the number of @Conservatives members who elected Truss...
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
I'm not sure much will happen until Parliament comes back from recess on the 11th October...
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
double the number that voted 4 truss, so far
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
Voting for adults is about as much use as believing in the tooth fairy. We are not in a democracy. The sooner people realise this the better. It’s all theatre
This needs to come before parliament so Truss and Kwarteng can be made as uncomfortable as possible for this disgraceful act.
Just going to leave this here
Anything is better than the current psychopaths in charge of our economic policy and position in the world!

I take it that you have read the Tory manifesto from 2019.
Anything, anything that can show our disdain as much as they have shown for us should be supported
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
People seem to forget Gordon Brown when he took over from Blair in 2007 and had no election until 2010 but that`s ok because he is Labour and the public allow that. Cretins.
Not even backed by parliament
Signed. The whole petition system seems toothless but we can send a message.
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
We cannot survive with Truss until GE! Country is in CRISIS & cannot sustain the time/turmoil of GE-campaigns now. Only solution - FIRE Truss, Sunak IN to stabilise country & GE in 2024. Committed to NHS/Care, reverse mini-budget, energy windfall tax #TrussMustGo #BringBackRishi
I know this will do sod all, but I signed because I want them to sit and watch the numbers go up and up and up and remember they work for the people, not the other way around.
Petition to call general election reaches 150k in just 30 minutes from launch.
Tweet far and wide!
Sign and sign hard, friends. #GeneralElectionNow
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
You are doing this to make people feel better. There is no way she is going to call a GE.
General Election Now.

Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng have no democratic mandate.

When people come for you and your family and your home you need to fight back.

In reply to @mikegalsworthy
This needs to be converted into a mass general strike to become effective. It's a shame its the parliamentary petition system, someone should be coordinating this - I nominate @eiecampaign
Please sign if you feel able to
How big can this get to show we want someone with a democratic mandate
In reply to @mikegalsworthy
🤣🤣🤣 waste of time
Centrist protesting always amounts to a petition, I'm sure that will scare the Tories...
This is key for me, and I don't understand why the media aren't picking up on it. The Govt have no mandate for this, they've torn up the manifesto they were elected on. We need a general election to show the population wants these policies 🗳
Signed. This won’t work, but it’s better than watching the news #GeneralElectionNow
