The judgement is in two parts: Part I: All five Honourable judges agreed that a new reservation can be carved out applying economic criteria Part II: The Court was divided 3:2 on the question of excluding the OBC, SC and ST from the new category of 'poor'

The powerful dissent of the two Honourable judges underlined the truth that the basic structure of the Indian Constitution did not permit exclusion. There are poor among all castes and communities. The moot question is "will the poor be treated equally under the Constitution?"

Not a legal expert like you . But common sense tells can one have a chance of special advantage twice ? Once he is eligible for reservation under one category he comes under a seperate category and the rule excluding him from other category is based on specific criteria .

we should make 50% reservation EWS for all casts with out exclusion of any cast, do you agree sir?

It has become a moot question now :(

Why not in 50% give reservation priority to poor? Why reservation to rich in SC/ST or OBC? They don't have any social issues as poor SC/ST.

There is already a large % reservation exclusively 4 #SC, #ST, #OBC. Why should der b another reservation in #EWS category ? Reservation was 4 10 years initially n #SCAMgress xtended it permanently 4 votes. Now poor reserved category benefits r taken away by rich reserved. pic.twitter.com/kRrnou9uvO

What a blessing you aren’t one of the judges 🙏

Ehete is the exclusion? Don't they have 50% already since many decades? Aren't the reservation exclusive in nature that exclude general category?

What's new in this category?

Well at least, INC is not united in its stand hailing the decision. Still, they should have decried it unequivocally instead of trying to take credit for it.

What about powerful dissent of Hon'ble judge indu malhotra on sabrimala verdict. Have you thought of it.

Why EWS at 8L and not 4L and less?

In reply to @PChidambaram_IN
Why not then carve ews quota in each category?

In reply to @PChidambaram_IN
EWS reservations should be now implemented across the board STs, SCs, OBCs and Minorities!
