It was always strange to me that Jevin Hodge (D) wasn’t taken more seriously by DC strategists/spenders/modelers considering Rep. David Schweikert’s (R) ethics issues and redistricting moving #AZ01 from Trump +4 to Biden +1.

Now, it’s one of six races that will decide the House.

I volunteered for the Democrats here in AZ and I can tell you they did not take it for granted and the phone bank I worked had an option to call for either Hodge or Stanton and we pushed people to Hodge down the stretch.

I first heard of Jevin because he was endorsed by Pete Buttigieg in 2020 for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, and had events to fundraise and support him like he did with other candidates he endorsed after ending his presidential run. Jevin is great! :) pic.twitter.com/xobYgsaDOq

Jevin is a newcomer but extremely qualified and seems like a great dude. Hope he can pull it off and be my new rep

my third cycle living in this district and working for D candidates! 💙🌵🎉😎 @JevinHodge a great leader for us I appreciate all candidates in the past few years who have us on the brink of possible. @metz4congress @AnitaMalik @hiral4congress @GarrickMcF @KarlGentles Heather Ross

I believe Hodge doesn’t even live in the Congressional district. 🤦‍♀️

Plus, he's a fantastic, dynamic candidate...

Alright, I'll say it. There was a trend this election cycle (and maybe before the 2022 midterms) of the Dem establishment not giving proper funding to BIPOC candidates in competitive but winnable red-held seats (i.e. Mandela Barnes in WI and Cheri Beasley in NC).

Imagine if the Democrats has spent all the money wasted on Beto on close house races. 🤷🏼‍♀️

And you didn't take democrats seriously when they said they had a chance ( I mean I didn't either)

Perhaps this is a good time to recognize Rep. Harry Mitchell, who voted for Obamacare because it was the right thing to do, even though he knew that it would cost him his seat. He went down in flames in 2010, as the despicable Mr. Schweikert won what was then AZ 5.

Republicans don't consider ethics issues to be a political liability. Who is more unethical than their party's leader?

In reply to @Redistrict
Schweikert did not take the new district seriously either. I live in his new district and I voted for Hodge. Schweikert never reached out to me or any of my neighbors. I got a few mailers over the past month telling me what a terrible candidate Hodge was. No plans, just hate

In reply to @Redistrict
You had AZ01 as toss-up leading into Tuesday, I'll give you credit for that.

If Schweikert loses it’ll have been a missed opportunity for McCarthy to tell him to resign

In reply to @Redistrict
Because we were supposed to lose 30+ seats…

“Republican” and “ethics issues” are synonyms in 2022.

Dave—democrats should never be taken seriously, they need to be laughed at everywhere.

In reply to @Redistrict
If he loses, maybe he runs next time

Dave, I keep trying to tell people, the game is rigged. Joe Biden and the Democrats never wanted a unified govt. That's not what the donors want. There's no other explanation to the terrible job the DNC and DCCC did. This midterms was won by the grassroots who pushed back.

In reply to @Redistrict
Ethics issues are a badge of honor to a lot of voters here

In reply to @Redistrict
Mitch. Everyone, I think can agree. He's stupid or compromised. I say both, in that order

In reply to @Redistrict
That could be said for every close house race. What about Frisch and Boebert? Everyone needs to stop stop judging and appreciate the position we are in.
