Goddammit, none of you are right. It was this guy, I think the studios actually PAID him to like movies. He'd say like, "Brilliant!" "Hypnotic!" "Rush to the theater!" Shit like that. Ebert, Travers, Shalit--nope.

They also had David Manning of The Ridgefield Press. He didn’t exist. Sony had to pay the state of Connecticut $315K for falsely attributing the quotes and another $1.5 million for another lawsuit.

If critics give something an average rating and audience a high rating it’s a masterpiece. If critics give something a high rating and audience average it’s bad. If critics give something low rating and audience high it’s great. That’s how dependable and useful critics are today.

Wasn’t it Jeff Craig of Sixty Second Previews? The dude was a walking rave-blurb machine, if indeed he was a real person. Certainly I never heard of Sixty Second Previews elsewhere. It should’ve been Three because all he did was lard up movie ads with gushing pull quotes.
