I'm lost for words.
It seems incomprehensible to destroy habitat in a public park for a ticketed event.

@LeedsCC_News are closing 1/3 of Roundhay Park for a winter light event and have destroyed habitat that held breeding Birds, Butterflies, Bees, Mammals and insects.

A 'light event' is also underway at Leeds Castle in Kent to the inevitable detriment of wildlife.🦟 kentonline.co.uk/whats-on/news/…

If I have understood it correctly, the organizer should ensure during the event that nature remains undamaged. He must pay for the damage. This is the law in my country

what is it with the popularity of these daft light shows that gets people in droves to wander around bad plastic inflated blobby caricatures of things with a bulb inside, wrapped in fairy lights and some displaced gamer-pc RGB unicorn vomit #LightPollutionIsNotArt
This is insane!!

How are we still doing this?!?

How can you have credibility about being environmentally friendly @LeedsCC_Help when you’re allowing a private company to do this to OUR park?!

It’s disgusting how regular park user are being locked out for a whole month! pic.twitter.com/scrkBjb5fH

Whenever I see ‘winter wonderland events’. my heart sinks thinking of the disturbance the lights and noise causes the local wildlife…

@LeedsCC_News this is appalling. So much for our ‘green spaces’ eh. So upsetting.
Absolutely disgraceful.

@LeedsCC_News I hope no-one comes to your event. What a disgraceful thing to do
Saw the mess they’ve made at the weekend, and for what? Overpriced ‘entertainment’ making large areas of the park unusable for locals. The event will attract large amounts of traffic, litter and disturbance of wildlife. Depressing @LeedsCC_News @tomriordan

This is just disgusting. Surely this event could have gone ahead without doing this? The park is bloody big enough.
This is shocking! 😧
