My friend’s father forgot she was his daughter, nevermind her name, but he told her she was a nice person and she could come by anytime! 🥹

It's like that with my Grandma as well. She has vascular dementia and her speech has gotten really slurred and she can't speak much, but she always tells me she loves me and says I am always there for her. She's sweet. It's going to be so sad to see her go down the line...

My grandmother said this to me once, nearly word for word. “I don’t know your name, but I know that I love you.” She remembered the important bit ♥️

Love is unforgettable. Not even a disease can compromise that

Very emotional cohorts. Alzheimer’s patients become more of a family during the course of their disease. We watch them worsen helplessly. Sentimental roller coaster. Hope medicine will advance to find a definite cure!

My mother is in the early stages. She still knows who everyone is, but can't remember 5 minutes ago.

I’m definitely crying ❤️
Both my grandmothers had Alzheimer’s.

Nanny Foxx smiled and laughed one night and was calling my name all night long - she thought I was my dad… I was 4 - I sadly remember it all too well as if it were yesterday.
"Y a tu abuela no le das un abrazo?". 15 segundos después ya no sabía quiénes éramos ni ella ni yo, pero cuando entré por la puerta de su comedor, me miró y por un momento supo exactamente quiénes éramos, y se aseguró de darme un buen achuchón. El último que me daría.
antes da vó morrer ela lembrou do meu nome e me chamou♥️♥️

For someone who had a grandma with alzheimer, this really hit me hard.
Porfavor es muy temprano para llorar
When my grandma was still alive, she always had a huge smile on her face whenever she saw me so I knew she still remembered me 🤍💔 I miss her so much

My father had Alzheimer's. We all knew he forgot our names, but he was always happy to see us.

One of the last times I saw my Grandpa who had Alzheimers I hugged him & told him I loved him. He said he couldn't remember who I was, but he loved me, & asked if that was ok.

Had a memory pop up the other day of when my grandma said she loved me like she knew me and I'll feel that joy for the rest of my life.

I wish my granny was like this. she was just staring blankly and was bitchy with us. she kept asking who we are and then didn't believe us. even refused to eat.. her slow death was painful to everyone. her love turned into hatred
Chepita (my paternal grandmother) used to treat me like this while she suffered from the disease. So I just read this convo but translated it into Spanish in my head. 😢
Ok maybe not completely useless.
my grandpa just got diagnosed with Alzheimer’s recently and this made me cry
This is exactly my late grandpa. He said he love me. He always knew that I am one of his grandchildren, even though not everyday he remember my name. 😭😭😭

My late grandma had alzheimer's too but she only remembered how she hated us because we weren't her favorites and her favorites never even cared to take care of her til her last days. Lol
