In what is becoming very standard behaviour, Mike and his producers subcontract all thinking to a Tufton Street think tanker. The really frightening aspect is Mike's total subservience and lack of questioning. He seems to think he's still a journalist.

Unsurprisingly the report quoted by the Daily Mail is from Civitas which is based at 55 Tufton Street. Who funds Civitas? Who funds 55 Tufton Street?

I am British and have worked all my life for a low wages and have never got anything from the State. Nor have most workers. Does that figure inc. VAT, petrol tax etc. Pure bullshine and misleading. Especially when ex Chancellors can forget to pay millions in TAX. F**k you!!

We should discuss why wages are so low that employers are happy to see their taxes subsiding very low basic living standards but that doesn't fit your agenda
Worth noting that 63% of the state benefits the 36 million receive is not in fact cash 'in their own pockets' but NHS use, education, free school meals, and other social care (bit.ly/3QY5EBI)
What that tells me is that a high proportion of people are not earning enough in their wages. Many of those people who take more out than give are working full time, buying the basics and still have no savings.
