“Mr. Meeks said that while he supported increasing diversity in the House, new candidates should focus on unseating Republicans — not on defeating ‘a Democrat who has worked hard in the caucus’ like Mr. Capuano.”

The FBI scrupulously adhered ti protocol in Trump’s case and diverged from it twice in Clinton’s case, to Trump’s great political advantage. His ongoing legal problems exist in *spite* of that fact.

Doesn't this seem to be an idea that would only work for parents with flexible schedules/access to child care/ability to homeschool?

Also I'm not totally sure the people who are blocking gun control legislation in America would be particularly moved if Dem children stop going to school

That quote strikes me hard because I was one of those young professionals — I was totally unaware of what my voice and expertise could accomplish until @AyannaPressley heard it and listened. I think about paying that forward every day.
Thanks @AsteadWesley for capturing it.

Really good read. i'm wondering where they diverge on issues. @AsteadWesley?

Replying to @Swerdlick :
@Swerdlick Capuano would count as a progressive based on the members of Congress scale. Pressley would be a activist-progressive, much more well-versed in rhetoric of modern social movements. he says their no difference on issues. She says there's a big one.

@AsteadWesley Does that kind of center whiteness too much? I see what you mean that it’s a “color” too, but whiteness is more a social definition of “not being any of the disfavored racial castes.”

@AsteadWesley @nytimes So why didn't she run against a GOP instead of for a seat we already have a solid hold on? 2/2

Replying to @KimShoeCrzy :
i prefer using "nonwhite" to "person of color" because I don't think the latter adequately conveys that whiteness is itself also a "color" that comes with racial lens. sometimes it's unavoidable tho mobile.nytimes.com/2018/05/19/us/…
