(Yes. On vacation.)
Still, on a boat tour, check out all these live hit setups across the water from Germany’s federal political building, on the night the country elects a new government, with Angela Merkel stepping down after serving since 2005.
(K, back to vacation, bye.)

Early here. Earlier back home.
Race day in Berlin. Good luck, Meaghan!

Bought a Berlin balloon.

Vacation time. (Especially for me, not having to run a marathon.)

Overlooked charming downtown Halifax details x 3.

Note for HALIFAX WEST voters: I spoke to three people who each got two Voter Info Cards (no indication which was correct). If you’re voting in poll 083-A, your location *may* be the Bedford Lawn Bowls Club (1800 Bedford Hwy), not Sandy Lake Academy.
Check with @ElectionsCan_E.

Bowlers. Bedford. Ballots.

Kinda feel like walking in just to ask: “is this where I vote?”

Today’s plan: hit four Halifax-area ridings in four hours. Polls open at 8:30am.

MacKay Bridge closed; construction projects popping up across the peninsula; weekend shoppers.

Quick traffic tip for drivers in Halifax today: don’t drive.

Nova Scotia's Proof-of-Vaccination Policy: pic.twitter.com/otuqMzdHag

CORRECTION: For schools, proof-of-vaccination required for: "Indoor and outdoor extracurricular school-based activities, including sports." NOT required for: "School-based activities that take place during the school day, before and after school programs and school buses."

Nova Scotia's Proof-of-Vaccination Policy:

BREAKING: Nova Scotia's Minister of Health says the province will remain in Phase 4 until October 4th, the same day a proof-of-vaccination policy takes effect. Original plan was to move to Phase 5 tomorrow (no masks, etc). Risk too high with clusters in NS and nearby provinces.

One of those hope for the best, plan for the worst days.

BREAKING: Public hearings to begin Oct. 26th at the Halifax Convention Centre as part of the Mass Casualty Commission independent inquiry into last year's Portapique, Nova Scotia shootings. The commission has been doing preliminary work and evidence-gathering for months.

Not my pic. :) Provided to media from the province.

BREAKING: NS to introduce a "proof of vaccine" policy says Premier Tim Houston. Effective Oct. 4 and means you'll need to show proof for discretionary & recreational activities - restaurants, bars, movies, fitness facilities. Paper proof will work. NS working on a digital record. pic.twitter.com/rl8PrI7c93

REMINDER: "Proof of vaccine" for Nova Scotia residents can be found at the link below. And Doctor Strang said today you can show the screen as proof... or print either the full page or wallet size. This will be proof until they develop a digital option. novascotia.flow.canimmunize.ca/en/portal

Any interest in covering this story? The front page of the local news online for Nova Scotia has no mention of this violent murder?

Hi Jennifer, good to hear from you. Yes, covered it a few days before this tweet from @KhabrNow. cbc.ca/news/canada/no…

Enroute now, leaving the basin. #CUTLASSFURY21

For the folks down here on the waterfront in chairs and restaurant patios... hour-long delay for the navy parade. Ships still hanging out in the Basin. (Except the Americans, who left harbour already.)
Hey #Halifax, the sail past has been delayed to 530 pm. Please share.

Tried to keep up with you folks here and there. :)

Busy first day back, at @stcatschool this morning.

Always nice to catch up with @RyanMacD_CTV, set aside our CTV News vs. CBC News differences, and agree we’re sure glad we aren’t covering this event like that Global News guy over there.
(But seriously go watch Global’s @silasjvbrown story about the @FtonMarathon it’s fantastic.)

To enter NS from NB, every adult must do a Safe Check-In form, print it, and have it for border staff to review, proving they’ve been vaccinated or know the quarantine rules.
Today, crossing with our forms, there were empty booths and handwritten marker signs saying: “Go! Go!”

My wife and her running partner @KailivanVulpen crossed the line first, holding hands, at the @FtonMarathon this weekend. These are the faces you make en route to a 2:57:27 marathon time.

Dear New Brunswick. You have plastic bags but not hash brown bags?

I happen to be filling-in on radio today... and remembering everything Rick Howe taught me back in my first on-air job at 95.7. Thank you for everything you've done for me, and for this city. :)

Which is the deep end of the Quin Pool?
A section of Quinpool Road is closed to traffic this morning due to a broken water main. Looks like it is going to be closed for quite a while.@CBCNS @infomorning pic.twitter.com/1rEuBG6xv4

Why did you omit your birthday? 😁

I'm probably the last person to learn this (cause I just screenshotted the page to upload to the various apps/online check-ins), but if you actually *print* your Nova Scotia vaccine record, there's a handy wallet-sized version included at the bottom.

Found it. Nov 2012, a ways back! Mind the volume, was a very windy day, gets louder at the top of the pole. Placentia Bay at Sunset. Placentia to the left, Point Verde where the sun is and Freshwater to the right. pic.twitter.com/BpkINNRDZa

Btw, great story!
Thanks! It was a fun one to piece together. And it couldn't have happened without the very patient folks at: - @ParksCanada_NS - @HalifaxCitadel - @HalifaxNoonGun, lol.

Behind-the-scenes pic of the videojournalist gig, while I was doing that Citadel Flags story.
Alone, working barely within the lines (here, literally). Shirt & tie; grass-stained hiking pants. Desperate to snag shots before the fog rolls in. :)
Thanks for the 📸 @murdomesser!

Totally watching the @cbcgem feed from Nova Scotia and making predictions..🤔 also good to see @Brett_CBC talk elections! #nselxn41

Update: “Environmental Issues” = mold.
NOTE: A few changes to voting times & locations, according to @electionsns.

Sure... federal elections are cool.
But today *right now* @electionsns staff are driving to EACH returning office to retrieve Community Poll ballots. (Typically, they'd hire secure couriers, but pandemic logistics made it impossible.)
Here's one staffer's route for today:
