Our vaccine outreach teams are headed to Amherst, Truro and Springhill next week. Drop in if you are over 12 and still need your first or second dose.

We started to make structural change by creating the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism Initiatives. With so much work to do to combat systemic racism it’s concerning to see the new Minister’s mandates not have appropriate priority on equity and diversity.

This senseless act is still on my mind. Prabhjob, a 23-year-old Sikh international student, was on his way home from work, when his life and dreams were taken away.

To my Indian-Canadian friends – you deserve answers, strength and solidarity.

Nova Scotia grieves with you.
Police in Truro, Nova Scotia say they have made “substantial progress” into their investigation of the homicide of Prabhjot Singh Katri. atlantic.ctvnews.ca/truro-police-c…

Glad to see the change of course and delay of Phase 5 until Oct 4. It’s the sensible choice to not only prevent another lockdown but also prioritize the safety of Nova Scotians.
As Dr. Strang recommended, please stay safe, get vaccinated and be kind to each other. #nspoli

Thank you to the thousands of volunteers who’ve made our rapid testing pop-ups a reality. Including one of Timberlea’s very own, my former softball coach, Kevin Cox. I encourage all to follow their lead, get vaccinated and tested!

Nova Scotians have done their part for a long year and a half. We’re eager for a sense of normal. It’s for that reason we can’t be reckless on our reopening strategy and cause another lockdown. Rapid testing was crucial to crush the 3rd wave. This isn’t the time to drop our lead.

Premier Houston will be holding a COVID briefing today at 3pm. It’s my hope and expectation he delays phase 5, maintaining public health measures such as mandatory masking to protect us against a Delta-driven 4th wave.

Voted last night for my friend @LenaMetlegeDiab who always works hard for her constituents. With the historic $10/day childcare plan at risk, vote for your Liberal candidate to continue going forward for Canadian families.

Early voting ends today.
You can vote now until 9pm.

A Delta variant 4th wave is having significant impact on provinces where public health measures are being relaxed.

We got through the 3rd wave with strong measures and asymptomatic testing.

I urge Nova Scotians to stay proactive- get vaccinated, get tested and mask up indoors.
Dr. Lisa Barrett is concerned about the Delta variant triggering a fourth wave in N.S. if we're not careful. Paul Hollingsworth reports. atlantic.ctvnews.ca/video?cid=sm%3…

20 years ago today marked a tragic day for our southern neighbours & the world. Let us not forget that in this moment of distress Nova Scotians opened their doors to stranded travellers and showed our greatest strength- kindness.

Remembering those lost on 9/11 & their families.

Leadership requires tough decisions. As a 4th wave surges in Canada, I’m glad to see the current government following public health and implementing a vaccine passport. To keep all Nova Scotians safe and prevent another lockdown - please get vaccinated if you haven’t yet. #nspoli

No surprise that Annapolis County continues to elect strong MLAs. Carman Kerr is ready to represent them. From his community involvement and his work with @KeithIrvingNS I know Carman gets things done and I’m happy to have him on the team.

Bedford South's elected their own @Braedon_Clark! Raising 2 little ones, it's easy to see why he’s passionate about education, environment & positive politics. His experience in gov. and journalism will be essential to help us hold the government accountable to all Nova Scotians.

A champion for his community @bmaguirens is always pressing important issues like the new JL Ilsley High School & the Harrietsfield site clean-up when I was Min. of Environment. He’ll be a force in Opposition holding gov. accountable on all issues big or small that matter to NS.

In reply to @KeithIrvingNS
@KeithIrvingNS saw firsthand the effects of climate change in the Arctic. Reelected for a 3rd term as Kings South's MLA, our former Minister of Environment and Climate Change will be crucial in Opposition, advocating for a greener Nova Scotia and much-needed environmental goals.

Proud to swear in with most diverse team in the history of the @liberalpartyns! Congratulations to all elected MLAs, I cannot wait to get to work alongside you all to build a better future for every single Nova Scotian! #nspoli

Un pêcheur de Meteghan représenterait la circonscription de Clare! The rural communities in the South Shore can rest assured Ronnie Leblanc will have their backs in the legislature. A proud Acadian, he’s always put Clare first throughout his 21 years in municipal government.

Lorelei has called Cole Harbour home for 36 years. Highly regarded HRM Councillor for 12 years, she's a trailblazer and the second woman to ever serve as HRM's Deputy Mayor. @LoreleiNicoll will bring her impact & experience as the 1st MLA of the new Cole Harbour-Dartmouth riding!

In reply to @AliDuale
@AliDuale is the 1st Muslim MLA in NS! After fleeing Somalia & spending years at a refugee camp, Ali came to Canada and worked hard to support his family and serve his community as a firefighter since 2004. Glad to call you my friend and work alongside the champion that you are.

Right now, government action is urgently needed. That's why when I was Premier, I was quick to invest $6.4 million to provide permanent supportive housing with wrap-around services for approximately 100 people by this Fall, including funds for temporary housing in the meantime.
Replying to @IainTRankin
We need to address the urgent needs of those experiencing homelessness. We need to maintain protections like the rent control we brought in until the housing supply is stable. You can read more of my thoughts here: liberal.ns.ca/leader-on-hous…
Message from Leader Iain Rankin on Housing

Housing is a human right. We cannot simply rely on the market to deal with the housing crisis itself. There are no simple or quick fixes. We need a series of strategies to protect the most vulnerable right away and provide affordable housing for all in the long term.
