Hey #Ottawa. When you decided to open your hearts & donate more than $300,000 to the @OttawaFoodBank since Wednesday, this is some of what you bought; fresh fruit, veggies & milk. Besides food, you gave hope to worried families & fuel to stay healthy. #isolatehunger #COVID19

One group that has been under appreciated as we try to cope with this pandemic is the news media- Radio, tv , newspapers and the web and their staffs have been on the frontlines providing vital information for the public with less advertising to pay for it. Thank you Merci !

We lost Jonathan Pitre two years ago today.
He chose to be positive and hopeful every day of his life, despite constant, unthinkable pain.
If he could do that, surely we can try to do the same today.

Very sad to read about the passing of Joe O’Brien. He was a great leader for the city as it’s Director of Arts and Culture. He oversaw the opening of ArtsCourt & the acquisition of the Firestone collection.I was so happy to see Joe at the opening of the new OAG. Rest In Peace Joe

The city had to bar entrance to Petrie Island in the east end today because too many people were accessing the popular recreation site. Just down the street is the retirement residence where an elderly couple died from the #coronavirus through no fault of their own. STAY HOME.
So, uh, where do the buses go on Sunday Bike Days, Jim?
Replying to @KatyChancey
They are rerouted as it’s the least busy time of the week

On 9/11, Canada accepted thousands of airline passengers diverted from the United States.

Canadians fed them, clothed them, and sheltered them. They never even once asked for anything in return.

Today, Trump asked @3M to stop selling N95 respirator masks to Canada.
Well, if I look a bit more rumpled than normal next week you will know why. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID2019
Who’s going to cut your hair ? !
Big thank you to all Global Affairs staff, especially my contacts w/ @FP_Champagne & @brooksimpson,
for working around the ⏰ to repatriate Canadians. Got email from a relieved husband that wife & daughter are en route home today from Peru.

That Simpson fellow is pretty good !
Interesting yesterday we observed one articulated @OC_Transpo bus & one LRT train totally empty going places. Not taking any essential health workers anywhere. Perhaps we should limit these transportation services right now. Fewer buses & trains or fewer routes! Empty is crazy!
We have reduced significantly but still need to provide this vital service. We’ve been on Saturday schedule for last week

There’s nowhere to go around the Glebe other than the canal path. Parks are off limits. Where shall we go???
Replying to @BasiaV @suzemuse and 1 otherfalse
There are dozens of residential streets in the glebe why not go down first or second or third or Powell or Patterson or . You can walk through any city park just not stop and gather or use equipment.
Thank you so much @JimWatsonOttawa for caring!!!
I was hoping you'd look into this but never dreamed you'd reply.

#OttCity we have the #BestMayorEver ❤💜❤
In reply to @suzemuse
Public Health says to go out once per day. Our 12yo hasn’t been sleeping well. He needs fresh air and exercise. But, we need room for that. I didn’t like how crowded the paths were. So many seniors out, too. Calgary is closing roads. Why not us? Esp based on Ottawa Public Health
Replying to @BasiaV @suzemuse and 1 otherfalse
The go out at a less busy time. Walk around a block that is more residential than commercial
In reply to @JimWatsonOttawa
@JimWatsonOttawa Jim, are walks/jogging/bike rides OK and/or legal? Seems to be the biggest question the city (and province) is asking. People just want a clear answer, please.
Replying to @asteroidblus
Yes but you are better off staying in your own community and minimize the time outside your home Go out for groceries and medical reasons as a priority reason to leave home
In reply to @JimWatsonOttawa
@JimWatsonOttawa, please ask @OCH_LCO to post signs in elevators asking tenants to observe #SocialDistancingNow. These are small elevators, #OCH has not yet acted to tell tenants not to crowd in but to practice turn-taking and wait calmly for the next car. #COVID19Pandemic

Those who live in #Hintonburg #Westboro should be walking only on your street, not on the parkway and by the way there are sidewalks on both sides of the Parkway. What is it you don’t understand. If you stay home 1400 fewer people would die from #COVID19 How selfish are you?
.@JimWatsonOttawa... @NCC_CCN closed all urban parks... we need spaces, close some streets please 🙏
While city parks are closed you can walk through them as long as you don’t stop and gather or use equipment
In reply to @JimWatsonOttawa
I am, too, tough as it is. Appreciate your response, Mayor.

@VeraEtches @JimWatsonOttawa @ottawahealth We were out for a family walk this afternoon and saw a family utilizing play structures in a park, my 5 year old yelled, “Get off! Listen to Dr. Etches! She’ll get you! You want the virus?!” I’m a proud Mom!
In reply to @ryanwright
Your reasoning is the equivalent of a toddler sticking their fingers in their ears while screaming that they can’t hear you. People are going to go outside. They are. Your reasoning is making things worse. Not everyone has a huge yard and a freezer full of pies to isolate with.

#WeekendLongRun returns!

It's EXTREMELY hard to keep proper physical distance! Had to swerve, stop & side-step (in the road!) to keep 2m from others (not everyone was trying this hard). Please help save lives @JimWatsonOttawa @cmckenney & open up some streets to pedestrians!

@JimWatsonOttawa just a suggestion now that the nice weather is here...the water fountains around the city should NOT be activated during the pandemic for obvious reasons.

I live in the Glebe and this would divert traffic onto local streets!

This should have been done weeks ago, @JimWatsonOttawa. But tomorrow works, too.
Replying to @jrmstrong
The health unit is saying to stay at home - we should not make it easier or more convenient for people to come outside unless for grocery trips; pharmacy; essential work and humanitarian reasons
