This program strives to promote equity, improve participation, and increase competitive play for student-athletes playing baseball and softball across the PNW.

Scott and Jill Servais are working with OkanDogs to relocate rescue dogs from Eastern Washington to the Puget Sound region and help them find permanent, loving homes 💙

Carl is an aspiring engineer who applied to the Hometown Nine because he says, “Baseball has given me purpose.”
Hometown Nine Fellow, Denzel, describes baseball as his “safe space.” The game he loves also provides him support and has taught him he “can’t win alone.”

Our HT9 fellow has aspirations to make softball more accessible for young women.

Through the program, she hopes to “learn how to be a leader for the next generation of athletes, especially young girls with my diverse background.”

Meet Kingston!

This 13-year-old shortstop and HT9 fellow is the youngest of four and says family is at the heart of his world. He draws his inspiration and resilience from his parents and his older brother who has Cerebral Palsy.

This decorated softball player has aspirations of being an Olympic athlete and immunologist. She hopes to help create vaccines and ensure marginalized communities have access to vaccines and high-quality healthcare.

Named after the late Roberto Clemente, our Hometown Nine fellow hopes to honor the legacy of his namesake and make an impact in the community.

Our friends at @keybank continue to make an incredible impact! Through their assists campaign, they've donated $5,960 to the Hometown Nine to date! 🙌

Meet Imani!

Our HT9 fellow with a 3.9 GPA has been playing baseball since he was old enough to hold a bat and has aspirations to play in the bigs.

He plans on using his platform as an athlete to help combat social injustices and climate change.

Meet Diego!

Despite losing his birth father to Leukemia when he was an infant, Diego has continued to overcome adversity to play the game he loves.

He has a passion to make baseball more equitable and says, “I’d like to see more kids of color playing baseball at all levels.”

The Hometown Nine provides these outstanding 8th graders with financial, academic, professional and social support to ensure success in their athletic careers and educational journeys.
