“Not content with an astute Aamir Khan impression,he lectures me about keeping ‘Chinese items’ in our house. Afraid that he may in ‘sheer, sudden, unexpected moves’, start throwing my washing machine or mixer away, I distract him.” ⁦@mrsfunnybones⁩ 😂 timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/mrsfunny…

.@mrsfunnybones' column | Desi Jeeves, videshi apps, and a dream of stardom

'When I ask him if he's devastated by the #TikTokBan where he had such a large following, he tells me that he, a proud citizen of India, uninstalled the app before it was banned'

My desi Jeeves gives up on all things Chinese, or so he thinks. Meanwhile, fellow citizens, inclined to burning effigies believe everything made in China looks the same even if it’s made in North Korea. My bit this week. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/mrsfunny…

Teachers already make a pittance. This is so unfair for those who have to run a household and pay bills/loans. We want our children to get the best education but want to pay close to nothing to the person who's doing the work...

What a wonderful story and there was an amazing grandmother in your story about the laughing doll as well! I read it just a few weeks ago and loved it !

Netflix's latest release 'Bulbbul' reminds us of the long list of Indian supernatural creatures that are some version of a horrid woman.

I am so happy. I may have even sent this for her. My twin loved them so much. There is a tv show if she is into it. I am going to try and remember some other books we read at that age for her
Replying to @Chikisarkar
I think you did send this one. Yes she has seen the movie and the play which was torturous!

Is she reading the worst witch?
Replying to @Chikisarkar
Yes! I asked you for some recommendations when she finished all the Dahls remember? Tried Feluda with her, she didn’t enjoy it but I did :) Found this then and she loves it.

My son crept up and took this picture today. The little one and I were meant to be reading together when I have fallen asleep with a pencil in my hand! Is it just me going through this peculiar phase where everyday around 4pm the brain just fogs up? #IWillGetYouForThisBhatiaBoy

“Loss is not a constant ache, nor does it come equipped with a fullstop. It lives between pauses & emerges at unexpected moments.” This #FathersDay article has me welling up” So many similarities in how his daughter remembers & how I remember my dad. Also, both were born on Dec29

This is the most beautiful Father's Day post I have ever read. I have tears in my eyes as I read it, and that's not an easy feat. Only Johnny Walker in Anand can make me cry. I repeat that the ethos a daughter writing for her father has, is unmatched.

Lovely piece. I came to know your father much later in his life. I knew him as a warm and endearing friend who would often drop by at our tiny Walkeshwar flat for breakfast and sometimes in the evenings. We rarely talked movies. It was always politics. And life.

This is so beautifully written, Tina. Every word sears through the heart. Poignant, yet invokes some happy stirring inside as you recount the memories. Brilliant! @mrsfunnybones

How delightful to see my father in the news. He set us free to chase our passion but never forgot his own-science, invention, innovation and of course meccano. Thank you Fiona and Mid Day 💕

Seriously. Three writers whose columns I never miss: yours, @mitalisaran 's, and J Mathrubootam's in @the_hindu . Witty, direct, outspoken, and on target.
I am a big Mathrubootham fan as well :)

Think about it, Hanuman is vegetarian, but I don’t see anyone in the Ramayana asking him, ‘Beta in order to leap all the way to Lanka, you need enough protein but where are you getting it from?’
