Cocktail attire: Can I get away with turtleneck and tuxedo jacket 🤔

These cold temps could create dangerous conditions on the roadways especially West & North of the city

Our @paytonmalonewx is driving around in the mobile forecast center this morning to check out the roadways
Sounds like the “snow”reports we’re hearing are getting confused with mist/drizzle? @NWSNewOrleans
Just released the balloon and it went from 0.67C to 9.65C between 1700 and 2700 ft. Sounding was also pretty much 95-100% saturated in the first 5k ft.

Still drizzle in my area 😬
No guarantees with the forecast tonight and while we don’t expect big ice totals don’t underestimate freezing drizzle. North and west of lake make sure to check in on the roads before traveling late tonight and early tomorrow morning. Bridges/overpasses could be slick in places.
I think the mist/drizzle we're seeing right now reenforces our concern for tonight. Atmosphere should be more primed to produce precip tonight, even if rather light. Models seem to be a bit too dry.

Won't take much to cause some issues on bridges/overpasses if anything falls.

Was thinking the same thing on my drive home from work. 😅
About to find out if this 2020 Mardi Gras tux still fits after two years of pandemic livin.

Just tell us it MAY snow so we can have a little hope 😂❄️
Seems like temps are running a few degrees cooler than what I forecast...will be interesting to see if this trend continues into tonight as little moisture moves in 👀

When did Gulfport move?
Replying to @baysaintfan
that's where Gulfport is...
While we'll be watching for spotty slick spots early Friday morning north/west of the lake on bridges/overpasses, the coldest air comes for parts of the weekend. Pipe freeze Saturday and Sunday mornings north and west of the lake. NOLA metro doesn't need to worry about pipes.
We don’t expect significant problems the way it looks right now, BUT ice is a tricky thing. I’ve been through many freezing rain events in my life. They’ve all been different 😅
BREAKING: Winter Weather Advisory for areas in blue. These are the spots Thursday night/Friday morning that could have a light freezing rain event. This means mainly some ice on elevated surfaces like bridges/overpasses. Mainly west/north of lake. Still uncertainty. Check back!

@paytonmalonewx hey Payton what are the chances of Gonzales Louisiana seeing some ice accumulation?
Replying to @westbruh19
Looks possible as long as moisture and cold air can meet up, but not forecasting too much right now. Will need to watch bridges/overpasses Friday AM through.
Love winter weather. Hate forecasting it.
While Friday morning temperatures will be near or just above freezing in South LA, the wind will make the wind chill rough.

A reminder we don't use the wind chill to determine if we see ice or rain. The wind chill is just what it feels like to the skin. Either way gonna be cold!
Watching Thursday night for ice north/west of lake. Even a little freezing rain can cause slick bridges/overpasses. Southshore stays above freezing, but could still see sleet mixing in. Stay tuned as we refine the forecast. Changes remain possible! See less
We'll be keeping an eye on Thursday night/Friday morning for light freezing rain/sleet mainly north/west of lake. This is all very preliminary, so check back as the forecast will likely change over the next several days. Too early to talk totals. Just something to monitor. #BeOn4
10:40 am -Northshore what’re you seeing? Looking at radar looks like light snow is melting around 2000’. Seeing light rain? Flurries?

This is a day old. Irresponsible to tweet it.
9 am - Looks like snow flurries moving across lake toward parts of Nola. Let me know if you see any! Might not be reaching the ground.

And if you’re a meteorologist and asked to speak on it…know you’re probably not an expert (Maybe you are idk). Pass it along to someone who is!
Huge shout out to @janinekrippner and all the other volcanologists/scientists working their tails off to tweet out factual information after the eruption near Tonga. Other scientists VERY MUCH appreciate the information y'all are posting. Much appreciated! 👏

Does anyone who has made their own King Cake have a good recipe? I am aware this is basically like making a giant cinnamon roll but I don't have a good recipe for those, either.
Replying to @devinbartolotta… this is fantastic cinnamon roll recipe. Just braid it instead of the classic roll

Frustration grows with seemingly never-ending construction and torn up streets…
THEY DONT DO THAT? 😂😂 I’ve never thought about it but we do say the time many many times through the morning show
When you're an AM anchor filling in on the PM shows, it's incredibly tough to resist giving the time before stories.

Camping. Making dinner. Started raining. Went into the tent. Cat hopped up on the grill stole my pork rib while in the tent. Ate it in front of me in the rain. What a series of events 😂
Home for the next several days 😍

This happened when @HylianGreg & I took @NOLAakita when we went to the Smokies last month. It was cold and beautiful, but I was still annoyed. After such a grueling summer, he deserved some snow!

Well. I have a possum on my back porch devouring my trash that I intended to take out. I screamed so loud that my throat is scratchy. Then I opened the shades to show my daughter where it happened and he was BACK. We screamed twice as loudly. Omgggggggggg!!!!!!
