Less than 1% of Covid vaccines have gone to low-income countries.

Meanwhile, rich countries have more doses than they could ever use.

We’re demanding Biden #StopPlayingGames with our lives and take action now to end global vaccine apartheid.

At the current vaccination rate, low-income countries may not reach widespread vaccination until at least 2023.

If we can come together for the #Olympics, we can do the same to end vaccine apartheid.

Your #Olympics reminder that only 1% of people in low-income countries have been vaccinated.

Now seems like a good time to re-up this.

The vaccines are great & people are more than thankful for them. But global vaccine apartheid is terrifying, enraging & preventable - and it is partially enabled by rich countries like the usa & others, as well as by the pharmaceutical & biotech companies who made the vaccines.

We need vaccines to cross borders as quickly as the virus does. If we want a chance of getting out of this, we'll have to get out of this together.

Dear Pres. Biden,

It is past time to launch a vaccine manufacturing program to meet global need and end the pandemic.

If we can come together for the Olympic games during a pandemic, we can come together to end vaccine apartheid.

The Pentagon already spends nearly $2,000,000,000 a day. The last thing we need is a bigger military budget.

Public Citizen Retweeted ·
BREAKING: The Senate Arms Services Committee just quietly voted to increase the proposed $715 BILLION Pentagon budget by $25 BILLION.

Apropos of nothing, $25 billion is also the same amount it would take to vaccinate the entire world from COVID-19.

In reply to @Public_Citizen
This is far from a done deal, but a huge outrage. Congress needs to know that it's unacceptable to give billions to the Pentagon while basic human needs go unmet in this country. Help us raise hell about this.
Replying to @Public_Citizen
When the U.S. already spends more on its military than the next eleven nations combined, what possible justification is there for the Senate to try to increase the Pentagon budget even further? This is outrageous. citizen.org/news/statement…

33 wealthy countries have exceeded a 50% vaccination rate, while only 1% of people in low-income countries have received even one vaccine dose.

This crisis is the direct result of political decisions by leaders of wealthy nations.

Of the 8,000 doctors with 5 or more malpractice payouts, just 25% have been disciplined by state medical boards.

How do you know if your doctor is one of the 8,000? You don't.

You deserve to know as much as possible about your doctor’s background.

U.S. billionaires increased their wealth by $1,800,000,000,000 during the pandemic alone.

Don't tell us we "can't afford" to invest in health care, child care, education, & clean energy for working families.

As the billionaires launch themselves into space for funsies, here's a reminder that it would cost just $25 billion to end the pandemic globally.

Nothing says tax the rich like a recreational billionaire space race.

Who else thinks the billionaires should have to pay a fee to return to earth?

Let's say a modest 10% of their net worth.

For Jeff Bezos, that's a $20 billion re-entry fee.

FYI, it would cost $25 billion to vaccinate enough people around the world to end the pandemic globally.

As the Delta variant rages across Africa and the world, the need to scale up global vaccine manufacturing and access to meet demand is more urgent than ever. I have a bill—the #NOVID Act—that would do just that. This is not just a humanitarian issue, it’s plain common sense.
