For the first time, Michigan has two women vying for the top elected job. Will @TudorDixon get the support she needs from the GOP to give @GovWhitmer a serious challenge?

2022 elections could be a new year of the woman. Can conservative women catch up? usatoday.com/story/opinion/…

Had he sent it, this letter would have been a moment of historic import.

As he didn't, it's one more blip on the catalog of moral collapse of the Trump era.

Reminder that Trump added $7.8 trillion to the debt…without passing a single landmark piece of legislation to help the American people.

Funny how “probably definitely did crimes” is now pretty much a prerequisite for GOP candidates.

GREAT column by @Will_Bunch here:
Why is today's GOP more dangerous than ever? Because its new generation is eager to use the coercive power of the state to punish their enemies and take away fundamental rights

CNN: GOP blocks insulin price cap

MSNBC: GOP blocks insulin price cap

Fox News: Marco Rubio says he and fellow Senate Republicans smartly defeated Dems socialist price cap to give diabetic Americans the freedom to "grow their own insulin"

What is the stated reasoning behind Republicans blocking the cap on insulin today? Not just the "they're cruel" or "Big Pharma owns them" stuff. What argument were they making? I'm struggling to find that.

I’d like to formally apologize to all Republicans for trying to destroy America by identifying a person by their preferred pronouns. I am definitely trying to destroy western civilization with my Marxist respect for other human beings.

What we are accomplishing with 50 votes in Senate is completely unprecedented in history and verging on miraculous.

Excellent @CarliPiersonEsq column on the fact that Biden and the Democrats are defying the GOP narrative by chalking up wins, and showing sanity in the face of an increasingly radical right.

The GOP is really pandering to the coveted "voters who don't like people with diabetes" demographic.
Senate GOP about to succeed in eliminating $35 cap on insulin Dems had proposed in the private market place. GOP raises point-of-order noting it violates budget rules. Dems voting now to overcome that objection, and that's expected to fail.

My newest Op-Ed is out. In it, I focus on the remarkable success of bail reform, yet how "progrssive" mayors like Eric Adams join the GOP to lie about it. "The uncomfortable truth: Our leaders lie about violence & crime constantly." I spell it out below:nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-ope…

No institution is more important in preserving democracy than journalism.

And there is no journalist I admire more than @JaneMayerNYer

So it was an honor to spend some time with her recently to talk about the state-level attack on democracy and how we fight back…

The GOP has completely wrapped itself in the arms of white nationalism. Their #CPAC #January6th "exhibit" is normalizing a domestic terrorist attack & laying the groundwork for more violence + bloodshed. What they are doing will lead to tragedy.

The best thing about Alex Jones having to pay $50 million to a Sandy Hook family is there are still two more lawsuits in which he has already been found liable and he will soon be financially ground to dust. Maybe he can get a job working the breakfast buffet at Mar-a-Lago.

A rare disagreement with Rex: This critique of DeSantis in 2022 mirrors almost completely the dismissal of Donald Trump in 2015-16.

I hear you, Lynn. You may be 100% right. I just think Trump carried so much name recognition and (barf) celebrity that it helped him launch. Dumb as it was, The Apprentice was hugely popular for a long time, and a lot of people thought, "Let's give this guy a try." (again, barf)

Alex Jones, conspiracy theorist and human-body-in-search-of-a-soul, is learning there’s a price for lying. A price for being a monster, for leveraging the pain of others to make a buck peddling deceit.

1/ I absolutely realize I may be wrong about this. Absolutely. But my two cents, once again: You put this guy on a national stage in a presidential race and he's going to stumble. The far-right loves him, but a lot of people will be instantly turned off.

2/ His policies are extreme and way out of step with what large majorities favor. He's not charismatic, at all. He doesn't project any level of kindness or optimism. More of a grumpy malevolence, really. People who aren't hardcore Trump-ish types are going to dislike him. END
