I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: every Title 1 school should have a washer and dryer available for students’ use. No ifs, ands, or buts.
got this done in 2019, and his work is still helping students to this day
At today's graduation ceremony at P.S. 90, I was proud to announce that I've secured $400K for a student/family laundry room. Unmet needs outside the classroom impact a student's ability to perform in the classroom. This investment will make a tangible difference in our community pic.twitter.com/933os0Rleq

Washing machines can be a powerful tool to reduce student absence from school, especially in underserved and under-resourced areas.

Congrats @NNickPerry on this tremendous honor. All of us in Brooklyn are cheering you on!🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Today, I introduced Assemblymember Nick Perry to @SFRCdems to be Ambassador to Jamaica.

Not only is he Jamaican-born—he is a Brooklynite through and through.

I am so proud to support him, and I was proud to recommend him to President Biden for this role. pic.twitter.com/Qz5Lc29rN0

So excited to endorse @cunningham4ny for Assembly. He’s the real deal: a progressive leader with both government AND lived experienced. He’ll be ready to serve Central Brooklyn on Day 1 of being in office.

👇🏽This. I live right by Prospect Park, and I’ll happily have my sons and I ride there, but it doesn’t feel safe for me or them to ride on regular streets😔. Clearly, this reality where people are fearful to bike isn’t what should be considered normal.

Also, I see I’m not the only Council Member who’s had to deal with horrible biking infrastructure @LincolnRestler
This week, I completed the @NYCBikeLanes Schermerhorn bike lane challenge. It took me 41 minutes and 4 seconds to bike the five block stretch between 3rd Ave and Smith Street, and @BrooklynPaper covered my journey.

I know many people in our city rely on bikes to get around and I support all of you who fearlessly do it. But I stopped riding my bike, which I really enjoyed, a while ago because I became truly afraid of being killed by a car every time I rode in my neighborhood, and that’s sad.

Not sure how many times we need to yell this but…

HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT!

With more tenant protections and an increase in the affordable housing stock, we can move closer to ending mass homelessness as we know it. We have the resources to do it.
Our state is facing a housing crisis. We must ensure that every New Yorker has access to affordable and safe housing.

From the Federal to the local level, teachers turned elected officials are working to ensure that history is taught truthfully, without whitewashing. Thankful for @CarolynBMaloney for her leadership on this issue💪🏽📚
This book ban in Texas isn’t an isolated incident. It’s happening nationwide, and it’s dangerous.

Heart Disease is the #1 killer of American women, but too often, the issue carries a stigma and is not discussed. As a survivor of open heart surgery, it’s really important to me we raise awareness about cardiovascular disease in women. #GoRedforWomen #HeartMonth #WearRedDay

For centuries, the American legal system has been deeply racist against Black and Brown individuals and communities. This is the latest example. NYS must act now to give our courts the resources they deserve. Each day that NY fails to act is another day of families suffering.
Exclusive: Why are so many poor black & brown families struggling to get their basic needs met in NYC Family Court? The system is limping along. Parents separated from children, facing financial ruin, waiting years for adoptions. Will the State take action?

I'm a teacher, so I don't curse, but right now, I really want to.

@TuckerCarlson I know you don't have any respect for anyone with skin darker than yours, but this is gross, even by your standards. Haiti, Baltimore, and all Black people deserve better.
