Today, we’re asking the public to Give The Gift of Going Out.

Let’s stop buying those unwanted Xmas gifts that end up in the cupboard.

Let’s support our Greater Manchester restaurants, bars, hotels, theatres and live music venues.

It's my birthday so I'm having 3 cups of coffee this morning.

Great to chat all things #culture and how #Leeds and #WestYorkshire are harnessing culture and creativity to drive our social and economic recovery

Lovely to see you again @AbigailSPaul, and you are right, the North will strengthen with us all working together. Fantastic to hear so much about @LEEDS_2023. Hope I get an invite!

Good to hear @Sacha_Lord speaking at the Great Northern Conference today on the importance of investment in culture.

We've been working on something that could make a real difference to Hospitality in Greater Manchester over the next few months.

Launches this Thursday.

More than happy for other city regions to use it.

We have to pull together to save our Independents.

This is a good read/point.

Rents and house prices in london are now no longer affordable for many people working within Cultural organisations, including artists.

As they have to relocate to somewhere more affordable, the North is seeing the benefit.

Restaurants go to the wall at faster pace than during the pandemic dlvr.it/Sd65bt

It’s been confirmed this morning, that restaurant insolvencies are now higher than during the pandemic.

This is the tip of the iceberg, as the quieter months of Jan/Feb/March could be the highest ever on record.

Sadly, this means huge job losses and damage to the supply chain.

This has got to be the most underwhelming World Cup of my lifetime.

Just not feeling it…

This Tweet got me thinking. Maybe we should have a new TV show called “Let’s Look at Each Other’s Bank Statements”? Premise: younger and older generations sit down together to review how each has spent their money. A bonus episode could be going house hunting together 😊

Our coffee shop supports people who are homeless through our customers...we are already struggling. If we go, a lifeline is taken away.

Was a disaster for hard working people as well .
Totally agree Pat…a lot of those hard workers work in my sector. Sadly with closures, come job losses.

I can’t understand why some are applauding yesterday’s budget. It was a complete disaster for Hospitality.

I know many that will see Xmas through, then just close. This could have been avoided.

Todays budget was a catastrophe for Hospitality.

We will be hit with the biggest fall in disposable income since 1956.

As people now cut back on meals out, gigs, theatre etc, the writings on the wall for many early next year.

It certainly wasn’t a back slapping moment.

We will now see a downturn in consumer spending over the coming weeks and months, at a time when operators need the most support as they recover from the hangover of pandemic related debt.
Replying to @Sacha_Lord
Disposable income underpins the UK economy and I'm hugely concerned that the policies outlined today, will create a severe contraction in the sector. Spending on luxuries such as dining out, is naturally the first to go in times of cutbacks.

On todays mini budget:

Operators are being squeezed beyond their ability, and I fear we will now see huge cuts in staffing, reductions in opening hours and venues closing at a faster rate faster than seen during the pandemic.

It is a very sad state of affairs.

Long shot but I’m hoping Twitter can help - the pub I manage is closing down this weekend due to.. quite frankly being destroyed - so I’m wondering if anyone knows of any work in the Wales/Manchester/Liverpool area?! Please RT, I beg 🥺 🙏

I’m disgusted that my MP for #BlackpoolSouth agrees with this misogynistic & abusive rhetoric. Especially after the horrific abuse @AngelaRayner & her family endure.

I met so many incredibly inspiring people at todays @DemoHospo in London.

Many I knew from on here, but each with the same story of fear, anxiety, lost hope and depression.

It's critical our voices are heard. I've no intention of stopping.

Arrived in London to speak at tomorrows @DemoHospo.

The Gov't need to engage with the small independents, the family run businesses, they are the heart of our Hight St's.

The big chains will take care of themselves.

To rebuild, you need to start from the bottom up.

Manchester is now the best performing city in the UK for hospitality recovery.

We can't be complacent - sales are still down on pre-covid levels and operators are battling huge business costs.

We need targeted support in Thursday's Autumn budget

These figures are worse than expected.

Without a Vat reduction and Bus Rates relief, closures in Jan/Feb/March, will sadly be the highest the sectors ever seen.
