There's a shady character on Queen Street.

Twice in the year, around the vernal and autumnal equinoxes, the sunrise shines right along Ingram Street, turning the Iron Duke, his steed, Copenhagen, and even his traffic cone hat into a shadowy work of art.

I want to see puffins this year as I have never seen them before. Assuming they haven’t all died from avian flu where can I go in Scotland to see them and when?
Replying to @R_McCormack
North Berwick - there are boat trips that go out to see the puffins all summer. x

Loved the Fair Botanist and can recommend it on so many levels. Off to investigate your other books.

I don't know - the person who bought them showed me, and it seemed churlish to ask what they paid for them. I don't imagine they were hugely expensive.
You could send a picture of yours to Lyon and Turnbull (where these were sold) and ask what they think?

Her mother an MG. I'll take a peek later myself

Thanks to @AGrayArchive, for this to be happening is terrific!

Hmmmm well if she was Catholic, it might be her getting married to another William in 1824 at St Mary's Cathedral ... which means that sampler ended up a few hundred yards from where she was married. I'm hoping. 😂

I will put her on my list. And keep you posted.... Thank you ....

I love samplers. Did you see the ones featured at Chambers Street several years back? A friend came down from Aberfeldy for that express purpose, and was delighted.
Replying to @1dailyshot
I did - I also have a soft spot for samplers x

No, but I'm guessing her father was a William so it would be possible to pin her down on Scotland's People

These 1822 samplers were sold at auction a couple of weeks ago. They were made the year The Fair Botanists is set. Very privileged to have got a close up sneak peek this morning. They're gorgeous.

It's shocking to watch - I honestly thought we'd moved on but it seems a lot of people really haven't.

I had a great time in the Botanics last autumn shooting these glorious pics with Angela Catlin, now part of an article about writers at @RBGECreative in the Botanics magazine alongside @valmcdermid & @GerdaStevenson8

If anyone was worrying about how little review coverage there is for women’s commercial fiction in the media, fear not! @jojomoyes and I got a whole page in Private Eye. Not at all patronising either. We even got a line drawing. pic.twitter.com/DVRPcNU9JJ

This fairytale novel has got me through the last couple of weeks. If you're into Victorian circus and sideshows you'll love it too. @essiefox wrote it during lockdown and I can see why - it's a great escape. ❤️📚

Someone probs just took this off and left it at the bus stop at the stroke of midnight 😂

Earlier this month @AberdeenCC announced plans to decommission 6 of our 17 libraries which means we will have the lowest number of branches per population in the whole of Scotland by 1 April.

Here's how you can take action - a 🧵:

In the same graveyard here's the grand memorial from 1841 to plant hunter David Douglas - against today's very grey sky.

I'm not much better - I always recover slowly from coughs, but a bit every day is what we're looking for and that's where we are. My brothers got it too - we came down after Dad's funeral. Rubbish luck. x
I'll wave as I go past Perth today - I'm off to speak to a group and then straight home again to bed. 😂

Noticed you mentioned collagen in a previous tweet, can I ask your opinion on it?
Replying to @nmdornoch
It works for me - I take a scoop every day and my skin looks great. I use Paléo Planet. It's not a one off supplement - you need to take it consistently. I also have chicken broth most days which also has collagen in it - it soothes my tummy.
