Mr. Latte 😂😂😂😂 Classic!

Iowa holds on to beat Illinois 81-79. Hawkeyes are 15-8, 7-5 in Big Ten. Illini are 16-7, 7-5.

Fran McCaffery and Brad Underwood hugged. They seemed to know this was a great game no matter who pulled it out. Good stuff, everyone. Fun atmosphere, great competitors, fun tweets!

Love @stephenbardo but man the homer came out of him strong today.
He's my guy. Great analyst. He bled in this series. One of the great fights took place in Maui in 1987. Both Iowa and Illinois were there. They were playing dominoes/cards and other things and got a bit too riled up in a hotel room.

You tweeted at me Mr. Latte!

I’m not asking you Iowa nerd… I’m asking others

I have no idea what @stephenbardo is saying on TV.

How many times are the Broadcaster going to tell us that the officiating has been amazing when everyone can see it’s been absolutely pathetic????

Excellent college game

About as good as I've seen for a while. Has every element.

Iowa ball, tied 76-76, 1:48 left. 9 lead changes, 9 ties. Great game.

How much of this rivalry and past shenanigans have gone into making sure this one didn’t get out of control early?
Replying to @hawkeyezebra
Well, the Big Ten's head of basketball officiating is here (Ed Hightower).

Courtney Green's And-One was critical before the under-12.

Both teams have 19 fouls.
In reply to @ScottDochterman
No the Refs brought Iowa back… @bigten Refs are pathetic

We've got 5 guys with 4 fouls apiece: C. McCaffery, Murray for Iowa; Shannon, Mayer, Rodgers for Illinois.

We've had 9 lead changes and 8 ties. Iowa up 72-70, 3:52 left.

Tony Perkins now with 25. He's 6-of-9 from the field, 12-of-12 from the line. He brought Iowa back from a 7-point deficit to lead Illinois 68-65 with 5:16 left.

Tony Perkins is now 12-for-12 from the line and puts Iowa in the lead 66-65

Do the Hawkeyes have anyone capable of guarding Epps⁉️
Replying to @DenDen38018382
Not really. That's why they've played more zone.

let's never speak of this game again

Kris Murray picks up his fourth foul. Iowa has battled back from a 7-point deficit to trail 64-62 with 7:32 left.

Tony Perkins has 12 of Iowa's last 18 points and 8 have come from the FT line.

Don't think it's coincidence things clicked better when Sandfort checked in. If he's not gonna start, Fran needs to have him on the floor to start the second half.
Replying to @MrWartburg
Perkins hitting some FTs were critical in sticking around. It's hard to get buckets on the Illini consistently.

This is the cutest shade ever.
Replying to @StephCopley
They got a nice PR win on this one and that doesn't happen that often.

Hawkeyes trail Illini 55-51 with 11:51 left. They need to tighten up on defense, which is difficult because they rank last in the Big Ten in FG defense at 45.6%. The Illini are second at 39.8%.

Tony Perkins' 2 FTs end an 11-0 Illini run. Illinois still leads Iowa 47-41.

The PR from Iowa has been uncharacteristically on the mark these past couple days, extremely well done pic.twitter.com/5H070IjKYb

It's like they accidentally drove over a pothole and magically fixed their alignment, haha. But they did a nice job with this.

Illinois outscored Iowa 11-4 from halftime to the first media (this time Fran called a TO) timeout.
This has been a critical four-minute segment for Iowa this year. The Hawkeyes have been outscored by 26 total points against major competition between halftime and the first media timeout.

Feels like they should do this every year. It’s awesome for those kids and builds goodwill in the community

Totally agree. Great gesture. It would be great if they allocated like 200 tix a game to young people, whether it's Boys/Girls Club, essay contests, etc.

This one is less of a troll and more a cool gesture. At halftime, four youngsters from the CR Boys & Girls Club participated in some halftime entertainment.

Kris Murray's 3-pointer at the buzzer brings the Hawkeyes within 36-35 of the Illini at halftime. The crowd hit 113 decibels.

I would've done it on purpose lol

I did it the other day when Kirk announced no changes to his coaching staff. I knew what was coming.

This is perfect. Intense rivalry with two good teams going it at, both playing well in a full arena with an engaged crowd. Best environment for men's hoops I've seen in a while.

Scott blocked replies on this tweet. Probably smart.

That was by accident. It's open now.

Iowa just introduced the CR Boys and Girls Club and brought them to center court. They received a standing ovation.

Haha @HawkeyeReport said the same thing.
I don't know what kind of a word my phone made there, haha. I was standing in line and typing.

Who's your pick to replace Warren? Do you think Barta would have a shot?

Kevin Warren’s departure won’t delay Big Ten’s plans to change football scheduling, Iowa AD Gary Barta says

Why didn’t the ticket office just tell the guy he has to pay the difference between the group rate and full price. Iowa would have made $7,000, everyone would be happy and no one would waste time turning it into a story.

Well, that would explain why no one seems to have a firm grasp of what’s going on. Thanks, Scott.

I hope to learn more fairly soon. Finalizing all of the media days are considered a priority, especially with Warren's departure.

.@ScottDochterman would know for sure.

It hasn't been finalized quite yet. Last year with ESPN, Fox and BTN, they drafted games and weekends: Fox took Michigan-Ohio State, ESPN then picked Ohio State-Notre Dame; some weekends it was "first selection in 12- or 6-day window." But they still have detail work to do.

@ScottDochterman with your conversations with the Iowa AD, and maybe others, has there been any indication of anything not leading to a 3-6-6 format for Big Ten football for 2024 and beyond? I haven't had any new info since Dec. so just want to see if anything has changed since
Replying to @Genetics56
Nothing official yet. It seems like it's the easiest sked for balance & flexibility. There are like 10 rivalries considered important. If it's only 2 protected, then it's 7 games over 11 years. There is discussion of odd # of protected (Iowa 3, Rutgers 0/1) but hard to envision.

Source: Alabama and Tommy Rees have agreed to a deal to make Rees the Crimson Tide’s next offensive coordinator.

The 30-year-old Rees had spent the past six seasons at Notre Dame, the last three as OC.

More of a convenience thing depending on your seat and section. Crowds are big enough to raise curtains and run hancher buses so would have expected things to be opened up more. Still a great atmosphere last night!

I've never really asked whether they open all of them for a sellout, two-thirds or so for, like, 10-12k, etc.
