Florida Republican Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott urged Senate leaders for money to rebuild state after Hurricane Ian.

Then when the vote came, ⁦@SenRickScott⁩ voted against the funds and ⁦@marcorubio⁩ didn’t show up for the vote. tallahassee.com/story/news/202…

Thanks...You are so right about the SDOH language and storytelling. @soledadobrien actually wrote a chapter on storytelling in our book Talking Health. I tell my story more effectively and to drive change because of that chapter. #wisdom pic.twitter.com/4gcYaG227u

It’s a fantastic project and I’m so thrilled to be part of it:
So excited to announce that on October 19th, the documentary adapted from my book and directed by @JHamilton71 and @redrubes14 will premiere nationally on @peacock!

A lot of y’all have been complaining about @nytimes for a while now and I’m starting to realize that maybe I should have been paying closer attention.

Over the last year, it's become clear that my short, hot takes aren't particularly welcome either. My last day is Dec 1. It's a deflating way to end a dream job. But I'm proud of the journalism I've published in the last decade, including reporting that has brought real change.

So after nine years, I'm being let go by the Washington Post. This is disappointing but not surprising. In recent years, the Opinion leadership has made it increasingly difficult to do the reporting & in-depth analysis I was hired to do -- in favor of short, hot takes.

Good personal news...On February 14, I had a heart attack (last time my wife complains about our lack of Valentine's Day plans)...My ejection fraction was 34%...Today, it's back to 60%...So, it proves that I have a heart and it is working again...But why? How'd I do this? 1/3

A very good thread from a friend. (Also he’s talking about social determinants of health without using that phrase, which you know is a strategy I like).

This question gets to an interesting point that I think is often missed. Yes—having access can get you good reporting. But it also can give you biggg blindspots and also make someone reluctant to do anything that would compromise access:
There are real positives to having someone with intimate access to parts of the inner-circle and an ability to maintain that relationship.

But there are also real negatives to having a person who repeats self-serving "scoops".

So: at min, recognize the pros and also the cons.

As per usual @adamdavidson sums up EXACTLY my thoughts, but a zillion times more thoughtfully. This is a great thread on journalism and how it needs to be reconsidered:
The big media-twitter debate this week has been whether or not it's ok to criticize one specific reporter.

It went kinda like this:

She normalizes!
She has scoops!
She makes self-serving deals with sources!
She has a LOT of scoops!

But, there is a deeper issue.

If saying that a dude from your own party has a "death wish" because you think one of your supporters might kill him and calling his wife "coco chow" doesn't strike you as a fairly major breach of decorum, then I am skeptical you're really all that into the sanctity of flutes.

Such a good thread. I’m a boss and I sometimes have to tell my Gen X employees “please! Go to a yoga class during the day! It’s totally okay!”
I feel like the Gen X/Boomers on my staff are traumatized by their former work experiences. No matter how many times I say “you do not have to tell me every time you disappear from your computer or stop working” they just don’t get it.

At the age of 42,"pushed as far as she could be pushed" & angered by the acquittal of the 2 men who'd killed Emmett Till, she refused to give up her seat on the bus & was arrested. That night she decided to pursue a legal case. The Women's Political Council called a bus boycott.
