1) Several commentators have already highlighted this Tuesday, but it’s worth underscoring tonight: for the first time since the World Health Organization declared #COVID19 a #pandemic in March 2020, no long-term care centre in Quebec reported a new case on Monday.

88 outside with a high of 117 expected today in Vegas but its hockey weather inside as all these youngsters take advantage of early morning ice. ⁦@GoldenKnights⁩ host ⁦@CanadiensMTL⁩ tonight #stanleycupplayoffs. Yup, Vegas is a hockey town!

@StuCowan1 there are lots of rumours on Jack Eichel being traded. After the playoffs are done of course, should MB pick up the phone and call the Sabres to see what the asking price is? In other should MB do the impossible to try to get Jack Eichel?
Replying to @JohnnyBarone1
Can't see Habs fitting Eichel in with salary cap with more than $18 million tied up next season in Price and Weber, plus $6.5 for Gallagher, $6.2 for Petry, $5.5 for Anderson and Drouin, $4.25 for Toffoli, etc.

#Habs coach Dominique Ducharme says Jake Evans and Jon Merrill are also possibilities to play tonight. #HabsIO

Fantastic to see Félix Auger-Aliassime @felixtennis beat Roger Federer today 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 at Noventi Open in Halle. Here's column I wrote about him five years ago. Bravo, Félix!: montrealgazette.com/sports/tennis/…

You read that right.

FAA upsets Federer in Halle. Brilliant win.

That completely unnecessary VAR offside call is going to cost Finland this game against Russia and it's garbage that stinks all the way across the Atlantic.
Replying to @jacktodd46
That offside rule in soccer is brutal ... it's already hard enough to score.

My column on Vegas Golden Knights goalie Marc-André Fleury who is playing some of his best hockey at age 36 and could be a big roadblock for #Habs on path to Stanley Cup final #HabsIO #VegasBorn: montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/…

My story on #Habs being happy to finally play in front of a full house again - even if they lost Game 1 to Golden Knights in Vegas. There will now be 3,500 people allowed in Bell Centre for Game 3 and 4 of Stanley Cup semifinal series #HabsIO #VegasBorn: montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/…

Someone should check to see if he bet the over.
When it didn't go in the first time when ball when through his feet it looks like he made sure it did the second time. Very bizarre.

Need to keep targeting Pacioretty. I’m fine with the non-call on Perry, it gives him more leeway to “return the favor”.
Perry won't forget it ...

In reply to @StuCowan1
A little differennce between getting a bruise on your arm and potentially getting a concussion from cracking your head on the ice. This wasn't about who got more calls, it's about safety. Perry went down hard...it was cheap. But...we can't criticize Max.
Replying to @grantmccagg
Perry obviously wasn't expecting that from Pacioretty and wasn't prepared. Not something Pacioretty normally does. Perry was trying to get under his skin all game, talking to him, cross-checking him, etc. ... part of playoff hockey. Pacioretty didn't get a point and had one shot

Good news for Canadian tennis fans: Quebec gov't approves Montreal hosting National Bank Open (formerly Rogers Cup). Up to Feds now. Hope is for some fans in Montreal.

No clarity yet on Toronto (see: Ford, Dougie as why).

2021 event won't move to Cinci. It's Canada or bust.

I think Vegas in 6. Hope for Habs in 6. How much fun would a game 7 be going to overtime!! Giddyup!! Best time to watch hockey regardless who is playing!!
Hopefully Habs can bounce back and make it a series.

Already getting nasty emails from the off-the-bandwagon crowd because I picked the Habs to win in six.

Two things:
1) It's one game.
2) If I had a crystal ball I would move to Vegas and after one year, I'd have enough money to buy out Jeff Bezos.
Replying to @jacktodd46
I'm getting the nasty emails from the other fans because I picked Vegas to win in six. People need to look up the definition of "prediction". If we could 100-per-cent pick the outcomes we wouldn't need to have a real job.

In reply to @StuCowan1
You sure do like to shit on the team that pays your bills.
The Gazette pays my bills ... that's who I work for.

I'm not sure why what Pacioretty did to Perry is any different than a slew foot. At the very least, that's a minor. Not like the refs are distracted watching the play on a faceoff.
Missed call.
Replying to @grantmccagg
They also missed the cross-check Perry gave Pacioretty when they lined up for another faceoff.

1997 - Henry Rodriguez's home run hit technical rim at Big O, estimated to have gone 525 feet in 10-2 win over Tigers.
1987 - In second start with Expos, Dennis Martinez blanked Mets 4-0.
1982 - Expos purchased Dan Schatzeder from the Giants.

My column on former #Habs captain Max Pacioretty, who is happy in Las Vegas and has turned the page on trade from Canadiens. It's still unfortunate he wasn't treated better by #Habs at the end of his days in Montreal #HabsIO #Vegasborn: montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/…

Link to my #Habs Game Day report following last night's 4-1 loss to Vegas in Game 1 of Stanley Cup semifinal series. The Golden Knights showed why they are big favourites to win this series #HabsIO #Vegasborn: montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/…

My story on #Habs rookie Cole Caufield, who scored his first NHL playoff goal last night. Unfortunately for Habs it was the only goal they got in 4-1 loss to Vegas in Game 1 of Stanley Cup semifinal series #HabsIO #Vegasborn: montrealgazette.com/sports/hockey/…

So happy to share this story with the #ESPNDaily audience, on the 10-year anniversary of Game 7.

Lots of talk on Vegas D putting up lots of points tonight. Alex Pietrangelo with 0 points in this one, was still the best player on the ice. Controls the game all night , goes about his business so calm collected.
Replying to @jasonyork33
Such a good defenceman. He did have a game-high seven shots on goal even though he had no points.

In reply to @StuCowan1
Are these US games super spreader events or aren’t they? And if they’re not, why only 2500 people at the Bell Centre? That doesn’t make any sense, either.
Replying to @danveniez
I believe a lot more Americans are fully vaccinated at this point.

Very impressive that the ice in Vegas has held up and looked pretty good tonight considering it was 43C there today. #Habs #HabsIO

In reply to @StuCowan1
Did anyone ever say “the golden knights are the Winnipeg Jets?” I don’t think anyone said that haha.
Replying to @StephenMichaud7
But a lot of people were picking Habs to beat Vegas in 5 or 6 games. Still possible, but ....

There are 18,000 fans in the stands but the coaches are still wearing masks (well, sort of wearing them). Doesn't make much sense. #Habs #HabsIO
