Thank you for reporting that on this angle of the tragedy. States need to really invest in educating law enforcement, health providers, families , & in the case of NY schools on how to petition for an extreme risk protection order.

There’s something to be learned in each one of these horrific events. Thanks for your kind words.

NBC News: New York has a ‘red flag’ law which could have prevented the deadly Buffalo shooting attack.

But a State Police spokesperson confirms no school official, family member, or member of law enforcement filed an EPRO, which would’ve taken the guns. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/n…
Replying to @Tom_Winter
The law can also provide a mechanism for disallowing future gun purchases through the background check process (presuming the guns are purchased in a manner that necessitates a background check). Again, not definitive it would have stopped the attack, but it wouldn’t have hurt.

And how was he able to get a “legal” AR-15? Outrageous.
Replying to @laminate2020
There are no laws or mechanisms which would flag or prohibit the sale of a weapon even to someone like this who made prior threats and was taken into custody for mental health reasons.

Then it becomes how many times can you edit.

In reply to @rbdoeker
The edit function is simple. Have the option to show the original. If it is a typo or link mistake you can just adjust and people can see that. An attempt to re-write an unpopular tweet? People can see that original too.
I should say it’s edit function I would propose.

He had to finally think about details and realized there were no magical ways to do what he wants. His Edit function, per a public talk, is essentially Delete and Start again. (The alternative, Twitter Blue, already exists.)
