The debt that still weighs #Postmedia down but makes US hedge funds rich.

They officially went under water last year, operating earnings were only $13 million while its debt payments totaled $31 million, which may help explain the asset sales canadiandimension.com/articles/view/…

But if they feel the fund isn’t going to perform… it changes the perception of loss. So they are cutting loses in their head. Is my guess.

That's something @dunkhippo33 notes in the story specifically. LPs that don't believe in the fund are cutting bait.

Absolute banger from @kelseyarolfe about upstream impacts on #CDNtech.

Last summer, LP investors told Canadian VCs to 'slow down'. Some did. Some that didn't aren't having their capital calls honoured.

The impact? It's now even harder for startups.

I know everyone's dumping on CNET's misadventures of late. Those who were there in CNET's heydays 20-25 yrs ago, a big reason why I went into tech/internet reporting was the awe I held CNET News in back in those days. Today, CNET's News latest feed vs 20 years ago.

How? Since last summer, VCs that listened to their LPs started backing away from deals. Others pulled out. Others 'renegotiated' done deals. Canadian founders had to return capital already in their bank. VCs are angry, founders are angry. It's a mess. betakit.com/investor-liqui…

The WORST case scenario for VCs is that they default on their LOCs & give portfolio equity over to the banks. It was *strongly* suggested to BetaKit that this is very unlikely to happen. But even if it doesn't, these issues are already harming startups. betakit.com/investor-liqui…

In the story we explain how $$$ get to startups from their investors (and from *their* investors). In the middle of that process is a line of credit between the VCs & a bank. VCs pay off their LOC through capital calls. If LPs don't pay, what happens? betakit.com/investor-liqui…

Just to be clear, when the New York Times reported that the FBI saw “no link between Trump and Russia” — a week before the 2016 election — the FBI agent who was just arrested over ties to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska was heading up the investigation.

Just an absolute scandal.

I guess there's a trade off, what do you mean by data consistency? (as compared to GA) - is it that it carries over between views? or something else
Replying to @bwagy @irleslie
Literally we had 4 different GA instances all returning different values and were constantly finding issues with counting traffic (even due to some dumb AIOSEO plugin stuff). Fathom is much cleaner/consistent by comparison.

In reply to @tron
How does it hold up?
Replying to @bwagy @irleslie
Granularity and manipulation is a little tough as its more of a streamlined ux, but a superior real time dashboard. I also trust the data consistency a little more.
