Imagine A League Of Their Own sequel that starts with the scene of the black woman throwing the ball back from the stands and you stay with her and it becomes a biopic on the 3 black women that played in the Negro Leagues (Toni Stone, Mami "Peanut" Johnson & Connie Morgan). pic.twitter.com/iFkKMo17en

Brava to @ConnieOrlando and the whole @BET family, as well as the show’s directors, segment producers, camera people, sound team, design squad, mighty editors and every crew member involved in this #BETAwards. Excellently executed within hard limits. You should be proud. We are.

I’ve always said if they remade training day I’d love to play Alonzo (Denzel Washington’s character), but that’s a classic so really any supervillain. Or a really really flawed protagonist. Someone that’s hard to like lol.

Fingers crossed on a Training Day remake 🤞 A BIG thank you for chatting with us today — we can’t wait to see what y’all do next! Be sure to check out their @speakupseries with full episodes on YouTube.

I HAVE to play a character with a God Complex. I need to know that mindset lol the Black Joker would be cool too👀🤷🏽‍♂️

Reed, someone needs to greenlight that movie ASAP.

I also gotta give props to the beautiful young Black women I’m able to call my friends like @LexiCUnderwood for always keeping me in check and continuing to educate me throughout my life!!

Final question: What’s your dream role?

In reply to @AsanteBlackk
She also RADIATES love like no one else and that’s why people gravitate to her work. They can feel the love she makes her art with and so can we on set. Coming to work everyday on a project as heavy as when they see us can be taxing, but it’s a treat when @ava is in charge.
Replying to @AsanteBlackk @reedshannon and 3 others
Your words remind us of something @LexiCUnderwood said in one of your episodes — “Black women are like superheroes.” Reed, who are the superheroes that have helped get you to this moment?

In reply to @TwitterMovies
In America this fact remains true for black people no matter what industry we’re in. That’s just the way the system is set up. Unfortunately in Hollywood many Black actors are still playing the token black characters because that’s all that’s made available by the large studios
Replying to @reedshannon @AsanteBlackk and 2 others
That’s why representation BEHIND the camera is so important, too. Writers and directors like @ava bring new voices, faces, and opportunities to actors. Asante, what was it like working with her on “When They See Us”?

In reply to @AsanteBlackk
If a case is so abnormal where they’ve never seen anything like it before, they can just say okay you’re free to go...we don’t know what to do with this. But mind you citizens for the most part don’t have protections like this. Made me realize how much reform is needed.
Replying to @AsanteBlackk @reedshannon and 2 others
That was a really powerful episode that everyone should check out. In another episode, Reed, you talked about Black people needing to be double the skill, double the talent to get to the same spot. What has that experience been like for you coming up in Hollywood?

In reply to @AsanteBlackk
We then texted @ethanherisse and though why not just talk about our feelings and opinions on everything with our friends? Next thing you know @speakupseries was born.
Replying to @AsanteBlackk @reedshannon and 2 others
The conversations you’ve had on your episodes have been super impactful, and you’ve had some pretty amazing guests on your show so far, including Storm Reid, Lexi Underwood, and David Dobrik. Is there a specific topic or moment you are particularly proud of discussing so far?

They’re fighting racism through conversation, and we’re hanging on to every word.

@AsanteBlackk @ethanherisse and @reedshannon are here to talk about their @speakupseries, being young & Black in Hollywood, and the future as they see it. pic.twitter.com/nOSNCX4YOw
