“I don’t understand. My work has always been for labour rights and workers organising unions. I don’t know why that would be considered unlawful, not to mention endangering national security,” Tang said.

Tang also recalled that on Thursday right after she finished visiting her husband, jailed veteran democracy activist Lee Cheuk-yan , and left Stanley Prison, her phone was grabbed by police and an arrest was announced. “I was startled,” she said.

The 3 defendants are granted bail pending appeal after magistrate Law rejected the #NSL prosecutor Ivan Cheung’s proposals to add “catch all provision” to the existing bail conditions, and to ban media from reporting his argument made in the course of the bail application.
Replying to @XinqiSu
Magistrate Law said only the status of the defendants has changed before and after the verdict and that does not suffice “substantial change of circumstances”. Law also found it unjustified to restrict reporting as the case was conducted in open court and has completed.

#JUSTIN Each of the defendants was sentenced to 4.5 months in jail without being granted any commutation, magistrate Law ruled. Defendants are applying for bail pending appeal.
