Today, we remember the great Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba, the country's first democratically-elected president.

Exactly 62 years ago, Lumumba was murdered by firing squad following a military coup backed by the United States and Belgium.
Yesterday, Israeli regime forces shot and killed a 14 year Palestinian boy, Amer Lufti Al Khamour, from Dheisheh refugee camp.
Israeli forces shot 14-year-old Amer Khaled Lufti Al-Khamour in the head with live ammunition around 5:40 a.m. today in Dheisheh refugee camp outside of Bethlehem. Amer was transferred to the Arab Society Hospital in Beit Jala in a private car and was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m.
I'll spell it out simply so Muslim Tate bros can stop embarrassing themselves.

Malcolm X died fighting racism, white supremacy, and imperialism.

Andrew Tate bragged about crimes against women and is offering you *checks notes* dropshipping and crypto advice for $49.99 a month.
Tell me again how defunding the Police is unrealistic, and trying reforms that have failed over-and-over again is the sensible way forward. #DefundThePolice

My latest for @AJEnglish;

"The facade is falling away, and the Israeli regime is revealing to the world a hard truth: that its very foundation is inherently antithetical to democracy."…
Press coverage: “Israeli ccupation forces arrest Fayeq Nassif Habash (15 years old) from the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.”
"If Netanyahu’s far-right government were to fall tomorrow, nothing would change. In fact, the 'pro-democracy' protesters do not want it to change."

I’m disappointed to see how many people are publicly attacking new Palestinian restaurant Akub for having non-halal dishes. They also serve beer, which isn’t halal and is produced in Palestine. Our holy land isn’t only holy to Muslims. We should celebrate our diverse culture! 🤦🏽‍♂️
Replying to @ASE
Just wait until they hear what the restaurants are serving here in Palestine 😅
Israeli army shoots dead 45-year-old Palestinian man Ahmad Kahla just outside of Ramallah.

He is the 13th Palestinian Israel has killed in first 15 days of 2023, including 3 children.
black women unbothered by the police: a photo series
Five Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the past 24 hours in the West Bank. The latest is 18 year old Abdelhadi Nazzal from Qabatiya, Jenin, according to the MOH. He’s the 9th Palestinian killed in 2023. By this time last year, 3 Palestinians has been killed.
Breaking: 41-year-old Palestinian Samir Aslan was shot by an Israeli bullet that penetrated his chest and killed him while trying to prevent Israeli soldiers from arresting his son during a military raid into Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, at dawn today.

Well, then you most likely could include Hadash with this. However, that does not make them liberal Zionists. And, Standing Together is not neutral whatsoever, working to build a coalition, and they recognize in a very strong way the supremacy you speak of and work to end it.
Replying to @Istanbultelaviv
Don’t get me started on Hadash. And a mere glance of Standing Together’s secretariat and staff tells me all I need to know about the way they tackle Jewish supremacy from within the organisation.
In reply to @yarahawari
This strikes me as very reductionist. What if someone possessed identical beliefs to an anti-Zionist about the racist, colonial, ethnic supremacist nature of the Zionist project to date, supported right of return/reparations/restorative justice but, say, believed in both /1
I don’t see it as reductionist & whilst the character limitations of tweets affect nuance, I think it is actually quite simple. If you conclude that Zionism is a settler colonial ideology then anti-Zionism is the only moral stance. Just as anti-fascism is the antidote to fascism.
In reply to @dbgreenwald
future are what matter, not the prefix they choose? And if they choose the prefix "non", then, well, "non-Zionism" exists, whether one likes it or not. /3
Let me correct myself, non-Zionism exists. But it’s a cop-out. As an Israeli, one either takes a stance against the Zionist settler colonial project which is hell bent on erasing both Palestine and the Palestinians or one is complicit. Of course there are levels of complicity…
In reply to @yarahawari
For what's it worth Alon is a years-long activist in Hadash and Standing Together isn't a Zionist organization. It not only commemorates the Nakba but educates its own members of it. In short, he and most of his allies are far from liberal Zionists building sustaining coalitions.
Replying to @Istanbultelaviv
Standing Together isn't an anti-Zionist organisation & there is no such thing as a non-Zionist. To quote Desmond Tutu “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." If you are not anti-colonial in a colonial context you are complicit.
Today in Greece starts the trial of sea rescuers Sarah, Seán + Nassos, alongside 21 others.

They face 25 years in prison. Their only crime is saving lives.

We mustn't only defend these heroes but make their work obsolete by opening safe routes for refugees.

Enough! The narcissism of this analysis is astounding. Sunday’s riot in Brasilia must be understood in the context of Brazil’s own political economic trajectory – not just a “copycat” of the Capitol, let alone an homage to Trump.
Meghan & Harry are doing all this, not because they want to dismantle colonialism, but because they were not accepted by it. This social phenomenon is interesting and begs the question: What if the Royals had embraced them? The public would be cheering for diversity & inclusion ?
“I think this [new order] will extend the powers of the police and border police to go after anyone. This new government will open the door for a crueller regime in the West Bank,” @yarahawari told @Beltrew for The Independent
Coup attempt in Brazil obviously failed, but a real coup has taken place in Peru and those opposing it are being gunned down in the streets. The 'international community' and media are deliberately ignoring it.
Estive agora à noite no Palácio do Planalto e no STF. Os golpistas que promoveram a destruição do patrimônio público em Brasília estão sendo identificados e serão punidos. Amanhã retomamos os trabalhos no Palácio do Planalto. Democracia sempre. Boa noite.

BREAKING 🇧🇷: Bolsonaristas are invading Congress en masse in Brasilia.

"The Legacy of Mahmoud Abbas".

The latest from @AlShabaka addresses how Abbas has presided over continued apartheid, the criminalisation of Pal resistance, the suppression of democracy & more with pieces from @TareqBaconi @alaatartir @tksshawa & myself.…
The Legacy of Mahmoud Abbas
Brazil is now witnessing the initial steps of a coup attempt against the recently inaugurated govt of Lula da Silva. We condemn this attempt by far-right mobs to seize power against the democratic mandate of millions of Brazilians who voted for change #NoAlGolpismo #NãoAoGolpismo
BREAKING (1/3) 🇧🇷 Bolsonaristas are leading a violent insurrection in the capital Brasilia, ransacking their way to the Congress, Supreme Court, and Presidential Palace. The @ProgIntl stands with @LulaOficial against these acts of terror and in defense of democracy in Brazil.
Claiming that this land is "the home of all of us" & not acknowledging that homes were built on top of other homes & marching against the new Jewish supremacy gov & not accepting that Zionism at it's very core is an ideology of Jewish supremacy is, in a nutshell, liberal Zionism.
Israeli Forces blew up the homes of the two Palestinian men they’d killed in the occupied West Bank earlier this morning. A spectacle of violence broadcasted to the Israeli public.
Health ministry: Adam Ayad, 15, shot dead by a live ammunition in the chest during clashes with the Israeli army in Dheisheh refugee camp near Bethlehem earlier this morning.
Palestinian factions called for a general strike in Dheishe refugee camp.

So the new Israeli government is really going for the "No, you're a war criminal!" strategy.
Happy Birthday, #Haiti. You were born from the womb of an armed struggle for liberation, and have been fighting for your existence since, because the enemies of liberation that control the world have never accepted you. You've been beaten severely, yet you continue to resist. 🇭🇹
January 1 is the anniversary of three beautiful revolutionary struggles in Abaya Yala:

Haitian Revolution 1804
Cuban Revolution 1959
Zapatista Uprising 1994
Vivas to the Cuban Revolution. Sixty four years old today, the day it opened a new road to socialism.

A salute to the Cuban people who rid themselves of a traitorous & collaborating dictator on New Year’s Day in 1959.

May 2023 be the year that we see the toppling of many more traitorous & collaborating regimes.
🇨🇺🧵On New Year’s Day 1959, the Cuban people woke up to the news that dictator Batista, had fled the country overnight with millions of Cuba's reserves. Only 5 years, 5 months & 6 days before, Fidel Castro & a group of rebels attempted the first uprising at the Moncada Barracks.
In reply to @manolo_realengo
Salute to the Cuban people & the 64th Anniversary of their triumphant revolution. I join with millions of people around the world in wishing Cuba continued success against the genocidal plans of the U.S. govt. & its regime of sanctions.
These are the countries that abstained or voted against the UN General Assembly resolution for an International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling on the illegal nature of the Israeli occupation of the 1967 territories.
UNGA resolution requesting an International Court of Justice ruling on illegal nature of the Israeli occupation of the 1967 territories was passed.

Accountability for the Israeli regime is a long way off but note the countries that won’t even stand for the bare minimum.

Appalling European vote count at last night's UNGA. Despite talking about importance of international law viz Russia's invasion of Ukraine, only 7 European states felt this legal right also applies to Palestinians. Shockingly 10 voted against ICJ referral, including UK & Germany.

Known in particular for her fierce climate justice campaigning, Vivienne Westwood will also be remembered by Palestinians and people of conscience worldwide for her courageous support for holding apartheid Israel to account.
RIP Vivienne Westwood.

Her iconic early designs left an indelible mark on a countercultural generation of musicians and artists.

Innovative and iconoclastic, her enduring impact on fashion was matched by her commitment to advocacy for global justice.
We told you so.

In fact we’ve told you for decades.

The reason Netanyahu can spout this kind of fascism and colonial violence is because of decades of impunity and international complicity.
People like @EUSR_Koopmans are complicit in the ongoing oppression of Palestinians.

Netanyahu literally just tweeted that he is going to secure Jewish Israeli supremacy across the so called Green Line.

Wilfully ignoring fascism & colonial violence makes you complicit Sven.
My congratulations to @netanyahu on returning as @IsraeliPM. I hope to work closely with the new government to contribute to a lasting peace that brings long-term security, rights and co-existence for Israelis, Palestinians and all their neighbours.
